Dress has arrived with security tag still attached!

I bought a Gap dress from asos.com, which arrived today. Lovely dress, but the security tag is still attached. Very annoyed because I wanted to wear it tommorrow.

Is there any way I can get the thing off, or am I going to have to send it back?

What kind of security tag is it? I have taken off the plastic ones with a pin and a tag before using pliers and it just requires a bit of strength! If it is the dye ones then I can't help!

BTW I'm not a shoplifter!!

Thanks, I think it's just a pin and tag one. What do the dye ones look like?

dye ones look like square shaped type, iirc. Could you take it into town with you tomorrow and see if any shops can remove it? take recieot aswell of course

I'm sure that someone has previously linked to some dodgy videos of how to do this - dodgy as in they're a reference guide for shoplifters.

Could be worth googling/searching archives. The thread was fairly recent.

aha here's the other thread

The dye ones say on them that they are filled with dye so should be easy to spot.

I bought a coat in the USA and only noticed the tag on when I came back home. There are loads of videos on Youtube which tell you how to remove the different sort of tags. If it is an ink one make sure toy wrap the rectangular bit with the ink in in loads of layers of cling film so if it does break it doesn't damage your dress.

We followed the instructions on YouTube and managed to get ours off with out any problems using a hacksaw, pliers, screwdriver and some clippers.

Many years ago when I was a Saturday girl in Top shop - one girl had to travel to Croydon (from the London branch) with the thing to detach a tag as someone had left it on the previous day when ringing up the sale.

The customer shouted about it so much on the phone that was the only solution she would accept! wonder if that would work nowadays?

Thanks, will go and youtube it.
