Help, dear mners! Boden chunky pull-on boots panic

Hello all,

I bought a pair of tan chunky pull-on boots in the Boden sale, and now I?m all in a panic about it, I don?t know what I was thinking? I live in Spain, so nothing has arrived yet, and I thought it would be easy to return stuff, but I tried to post a book and a t-shirt to the UK the other day and the post office wanted to charge me 16 euros for normal delivery! I dread to think how much sending the boots would cost! There?s no way I could afford to.

I?m a 33 year-old SAHM and I dress casually, I suppose I?m a bit of a boho/rock chic type, but I like dresses and heels too, when I get the chance. But I?m a bit clueless with clothes and trying new things, and anyway I chose the boots because I have needed a nice pair of good leather boots for a few years but haven?t been able to afford them (and still can?t really). The idea was to buy a pair of nice chunky boots to wear with jeans to the park and with warm tights and a nice casual dress for lunch with a friend. And I chose tan because I thought it?s a nice change from black and I already have a pair of black knee-length lace-up Doc Marten type boots (which I love but don?t want to scare the posh ladies in our local park with those, already have them staring at my tattoos in summer).

And now I?m thinking they?ll be horrible and I?m so disappointed! I like plain chunky boots, but do they just look like wellies or riding boots? And will tan go with anything except jeans, or have I made a total mistake there? I like colour and don?t like matching, but will tan end up only going with jeans? I?m upset about it as this was my one chance to treat myself to a pair of boots that would do me for years and I?m worried I?ve messed it up. What do you think? Does anyone here own these boots?

I have so ranted on about this ? sorry!

How strange, wonder what's with all the question marks...

I am guessing that the "?" are how a Spanish keyboard interprets apostrophes, or something along those lines, as they are all where there would normally be an apostrophe.

I think your boots will be fine with dresses, especially if you are a bit boho. Don't worry!

I have a pair of tan boots I bought a month or two back. I loved them when I got them but then had the same thoughts as you about the colour. I eventually tried them on with everything. I wear mine with black dresses & black opaques, jeggings, leggings, grey skinnies, blue jeans, brown dresses, grey dresses.... What kind of clothes do you usually wear & would you want to wear them with?

Tan are a great choice of colour, will look great with blue jeans, and excellent with dresses too, as long as the dresses are not brown

I have just bought some black furry boots which are very warm and comfy but my problem was no tights! Found some great purple ones on the legstore though you have to pay with paypal.

Thanks for the answers and reassurance! you've really helped, I'm feeling less panicky now. And thanks for the tights tip winnie, I do have paypal. I want to wear them with skirts and tights, dresses and jeans. I'm not too sure about leggings/jeggings as I haven't tried the whole tunic/long top thing. As I'm short and pear-shaped (size 12) I think that loose flowy tops hide my figue and look mumsy rather than elegant.

I just wasn't sure about colours though. What colours of tights/dresses/skirts look ok? Do pretty much any colours look ok? Are brown boots with black tights and black dresses ok then monkeysmama? (I think so but have read others say no)

Yay, I?m sure y?all are not particularly interested, but I finally got my boots a few days ago (long story) and am very happy with them actually. After reading on the net about how you?re not supposed to wear brown boots with black, I wore them with black tights, a purple wool miniskirt, a black top and my new long purple velvet coat (also Boden) and I thought it looked great. Am now going to experiment with different colours of tights and skirts.
