Another Fly London Mol boots query.....

MrsHarry · 20/12/2009 19:00

Does anyone have these and had to get the next size up? I keep seeing lots of references to them fitting skinny calves really well, but I have chunky calves and wide feet (size 7).

Want to order these boots online but don't know whether to play it safe and order 7 and 8 then just pay to send one pair (hopefully only one pair!)back.

Please help.....I really really want them from Santa!!!!

they are fine for wide feet. Not sure about calves

MrsHarry · 20/12/2009 19:12

Thanks corny

I have just read some reviews on a shoe website....of the ones with 'meaty calves' half say they had no problem, half say they couldn't do the zip up!

Not v. helpful...

can't you try them on in the shop before ordering?

MrsHarry · 20/12/2009 20:46

No, the only shop near me that sells them only ever has ridiculously small sizes in...I keep going back and they just tell me that as soon as they get a size 7 in they sell out....great stock control!!

Don't buy them to wear in all weathers, my £40 pair leak. (I have tried waterproofing them, it hasn't worked.

So I can only wear them when it is absolutely dry.

I find them baggy around the ankle, have normal, shapely legs (I am size 10 - 12).

If I was worried about them being tight, I would wear them with tights first, then move onto leggings, then skinny jeans - they do stretch imho.

LittleFriendSusan · 20/12/2009 21:20

I'm a wide 6 (so usually end up buying a 7). I ordered them in a 7 when they were on offer at Office but had to send them back as they were just too tight round the calf.

Footwise the fit was spot on. I assume they will give a bit, but I literally couldn't fasten that last inch or so without pinching skin (ouch!), so figured I'd only end up laddering tights and wouldn't even get them on with leggings! Gutted as they were lovely...

I'm 5ft 5 - I imagine height / leg length makes a difference too as to how they will fit!

MrsHarry · 20/12/2009 22:40

Mmmm...thanks all for your input.
Think I might just take a risk with the 7s and hope for the best.

We're all different shapes aren't we!!

Wish me luck.

I'm a 6.5-7 depending on the style (but more normally a European size 40), with wide feet and normal calves - I fit fine into a size 7 (40) Mol. I can fasten and even fit leggings under though it's a bit tight. I think height might make a difference as to wear on your leg the boots end. I'm 5'6.

If you order from somewhere like Javari, it's free delivery and free returns (any time up to a year if unworn) so you could try for size with no cost?

fishie · 21/12/2009 08:30

i have high arches and wide feet. have found fly are ok on width but a bit tight on depth so the overall volume is smaller. go up a size.

Jewelsandgems · 21/12/2009 08:49

on the loosest buckle setting I think they should be fine for fuller calves but I would order from somewhere with free delivery/returns just incase.

If you try them on and they look baggy around the ankle this is because they are not a good fit around the calve - my friend tried mine on and said they were too baggy ankle wise (are fine with me and I have skinny calves and ankles) but then when she lifted her trouser leg up, the had leg overspill and this meant the boot could not come as far up the leg as it should, resulting in baggy ankle.

AnInginAneAnA · 21/12/2009 10:01

I think trying them on is the only way to know they will fit you, mine fit well on the calf, wearing them with skinny jeans, but I find the ankle is baggy (no leg overspill here Jewels) and I do have very skinny ankles. I have to wear thick socks with mine too, so I think they are quite generously sized - I normally get a five, but both fly shoes and now the boots I have are slightly roomy, so I think they would suit wider feet.

The strap is on a little bit of elastic, and there is a split at the top of the boot where the strap is, but I would still say they are a snug fit...

FimBOW · 21/12/2009 10:04

I have fat calves and there is no way I can squeeze them into the MOL's. I do have the MES though which are fine, they sit just under the calf.

MrsHarry · 23/12/2009 19:59

Thanks all, 7s and 8s are ordered - hopefully my Christmas pressie!

Thanks NorkilyChallenged and Jewels for tip about ordering from place with free returns...I looked at Javari and really wish I hadn't cos now there are even more boots I want !!!!

But the place I ordered them from was so much cheaper - £104 instead of £120-130. So I don't mind a bit extra in postage.

Wow, MrsHarry, where was that then?

(not sure why I'm asking as have already bought my pair but spent a month obsessively searching and tracking Mes/Mol price fluctuations before buying )
