Help. Xmas night out and I'm so out of practise

I have my staff night out coming up. I'm new and don't go out much. Staff are nice but right mix of ages and I have no clue what to wear. Going for meal in restaurant with drinks before and maybe bit of dancing after meal but not sure. I'm nearly 40, fairly boring to look at(plain, dark hair, pale, unruly hair with bits of grey) and slim(size 8-10)What look should I be aiming for do you think? Don't want to go mad but quite excited to have night out IYKWIM?

What about going for something like this M&S waterfall jacketover a cami and evening trousers?

You sound really unconfident about your looks. Do you think that you could get your hair/nails done on the day to give yourself a bit of a boost?
