anyone use Lancome mascaras? Concern over genuine item re. ebay buy...

I recently bought Lancome Hypnose on Ebay and am convinced it is fake- I lost my case with them on it, but want to know what I am putting on my eyes! They seller had had a few other similar complaints.

All previous Lancome mascaras I have used ( for years) have a number/code embossed on the tube.
This one doesn't. The brush is also different from my old mascara- bought in a store-and seems too big for the tube. It also smells different from my current/old mascara.

I amnot going to do anything more re, Ebay but want to know for future reference and also know what I might be using!

anyone got any ideas? Can you check your mascaras?

Could you take it into a shop and ask at a Lancome counter?

I could- but would feel a bit embarrassed. it is boxed and the box looks genuine, but...
I have bought several from Ebay and been 100% happy with the others, but this one just doesn't tick all the boxes.

I wouldn't get any toiletry product from ebay. You may have get a different "edition" made for a different country. You may be using one product that didn't pass a quality control, or you may have paid extra for something you would never wear.

Could it have been a tester? Or if it smells funny could it have gone off? Does mascara go off?

Def. not a tester as far as I know as it was brand new. Yes mascara can go off- this just has a different smell.

Maybe it was destined for another country then so slightly different ingredients?
