Warm shoes to wear with jeans

BornToFolk · 14/12/2009 19:15

My normal casual footwear is Converse, however my feet are bloody freezing recently so I need some new, warm casual footwear that'll go with jeans.

Any suggestions? I don't like UGGs. I need something practical that I can wear to the park, without looking too frumpy.

I bought some fab fur lined Frye boots from TK MAxx. I'm as snug as a bug wearing them

MrsBadger · 14/12/2009 19:18

Campers?

personally I wear low-heeled boots of this ilk with [whispers] long socks and am generally lovely and warm.

biker boots ?

with 2 prs of socks

traceybath · 14/12/2009 19:25

I have these and they're very warm due to sheepskin lining.

BornToFolk · 14/12/2009 19:26

Are boots OK with jeans? I normally wear flared or slouchy ones which look fine with Converse but I wasn't sure about boots.

yes so long as they are casual and have very little or no heel, else the jeans that are the right length with converse will be too short.

hohoholepew · 14/12/2009 19:41

I wear leather Converse boots, I use Birkinstock insoles and my feet are toasty.

I made the mistake of wearing my Converse today. Good grief my feet were freezing. My usual winter wear are DMs, nice and warm, very practical but not to everyone's taste.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 14/12/2009 19:47

I wear 2 prs of thick socks with my Converse, and unless there is actually snow/ice on the ground they are warm enough

mind you...I go from house to car to schoolyard for 5 minutes max to supermarket to work

BikeRunSki · 14/12/2009 20:33

I live in jeans and Converse shoes all summer, and jeans and these boots all winter.

Warmest comfiest boots ever

VerityBrulee · 14/12/2009 20:40

I bought ds black suede converse with sheepskin lining from Office, they are fab.

dairymoo · 14/12/2009 22:07

I have found that wearing proper thick wool socks with converse keeps my feet warm enough. Not as warm as when I am wearing my Uggs mind, but toasty enough.

I can't get thick socks under my Converse.

I'm going to try to get to TK Maxx today to see what they've got in. I think boots are the way to go...

BikeRunSki - I always look at those boots online (love them in Bark) but do they make your feet look massive? I like having petite feet and want them to still look like that, bot massive clown feet

BikeRunSnowflake · 15/12/2009 22:53

I don;t think they make my feet look anymore massive than they are already! (8, widte). But I;d rather have warm feet than small feet. Is there a branch of Schuu near you, to try on and have a look?

I bought boots! I went ice-skating in Hyde Park yesterday and walked round the Christmas market in the snow and sleet. I was wearing my Converse and they got soaked and my feet were freezing.
We went shopping afterwards and passed an Ecco and I bought emergency boots.
Look

Aren't they lovely? I wore them there and then and my feet were lovely and warm all day and didn't hurt even after a hard day shopping in London. They are waterproof too. And lined with a soft, fluffy material.

I've never been in an Ecco before but was very impressed.

I gave up after getting such cold feet in the snow last year and having to watch endless football/rugby matches on muddy, wet pitches that I bought these. My feet are warm, they don't get wet. I admit they aren't the most stylish but they look fine with jeans and tbh, I would forgo stylish for warm feet as I can't bear them being cold!
