Tall birds - where do you get your jeans?

giddyupRudolph · 14/12/2009 10:51

I am about size 14, need 36 inch leg.

I have in my wardrobe jeans from Fat Face, Ralph Lauren, Top Shop, Long Tall Sally, none of which I like.

I want slightly bootcut, fitted around the arse, sit on the hips. I had a lovely pair from Gap which I wore literally until the leg fell off. All Gap jeans now seem too short.

Any ideas? I don't really want to pay over about £70.

I have a 36" leg and buy my jeans from New Look and Next. I actually have to get Next Tall range taken up they are so long but the extra long range fit well.

giddyupRudolph · 14/12/2009 20:49

The Next website says extra tall is to fit 33 inch leg - are they long enough?

For example, these

I second Zara. Really long and nice jeans. The last pair I bought I had to have taken up which was a nice feeling. I am not particularly tall but I have unusually long legs

Fruitbatlings · 14/12/2009 21:28

you need to follow me about when I buy jeans. I'm "average" height at 5ft4 but whenever I buy jeans they are always a good 4/5 inches too long

I have jeans from:
Hennes
Topshop
Miss Selfridge

I also have some Tommy Hilfiger
All waaaaaaaaaaayyyyy too long

Fruitbatlings · 14/12/2009 21:29

maybe I've just got short arse legs

sleepysleepy · 14/12/2009 21:35

Am 6 ft and a size 12...am so glad it was not just my imagination about bloody gap jeans! Have been unable to fathom why they are no longer long enough for me when previously, I lived in the things.

Since I lost Gap I have been on a quest for nice jeans, too. Next tall range (not the extra long) are the best I have found, and Zara.

LTS are still hideous (everything from LTS seems hideous to me. Keep thinking one day I may grow into it but what the hell are the high waists about??!)

Boden and fatface are pretty short on me. Top shop go baggy and weird. And don't talk to me about Dorothy Perkins...its the only shop in our town and seems only to produce jeans with an inordinate amount of sequins on them.

bumpybecky · 15/12/2009 00:10

I said New Look above - I had a delivery today of super skinny jeans from them that are too long I've not had jeans that are too long for years, not since I was 13

I'm 6 foot, size 14-16 and need a 34-35 inch inside leg. These must be 36 if not longer

MiddleAgedNamechanger · 15/12/2009 00:12

I have 34" leg and bought trousers from the Next 'tall' range - and they were about 6" too long! So should be fine for 36" leg

trixymalixy · 15/12/2009 00:42

asda

HinnyPet · 15/12/2009 10:19

Bumpybecky are you me in disguse? ah.... no - you must be the deluxe version, I'm only 5ft 11

bumpybecky · 15/12/2009 10:34

Hinnypet - I think I might be your twin! I also have slim legs and a huge tum

HinnyPet · 15/12/2009 11:05

ha ha! well if you have had major hair disasters in the past including turning it green then we are indeed the same person

RamblingRosa · 16/12/2009 08:55

I disagree with the Reiss suggestion. I think they're only about 33". The ones I've tried on there have been way too short.

HinnyPet, I agree about being PG. Not pg now but when I was I remember being really puzzled by the fact that shops which usually do Tall ranges (like Topshop) didn't do longer jeans in the maternity range. Like you're only allowed to be tall or pregnant, not both . I managed to find a pair of Topshop maternity jeans in 34" leg and just made do with them being a bit on the short side.

RamblingRosa · 16/12/2009 08:56

Oh, and I think Long Tall Sally do longer length maternity jeans.

MadameDuBain · 16/12/2009 09:26

I have Next maternity jeans which come in long length and are very long. Cheap too. They're not the best because you have to keep pulling them back up, but at least I don't have to wear ankle-flappers while pg (like last time).

deaddei · 16/12/2009 13:26

Next Tall are actually TOO long for me- I'm 36ins!
I echo everyone's comments about LTS- what is going on there? It's the long flared skirts......we don't want those!!!

HinnyPet · 17/12/2009 13:02

LTS is sooo middle aged now.

They used to do a semi-cool range for teenagers, they really need to take a good hard look at their market as girls are getting ever taller! If they are shopping at Topshop then LTS are missing out.

Mind, LTS quality needs to be improved as they are not cheap.

shivster1980 · 22/12/2009 14:49

New Look are great!

I am 36 inch inside leg.

I also use the South Tall range in the Littlewoods catalogue

Dorothy Perkins tall are ok too but tend to come up big on me.

mehgalegs · 22/12/2009 15:18

I am 6ft 2 with a 37" inside leg. LTS jeans are too short for me. I tend to get mine from DP, New Look and Tall Girls. Also MOTO ones from Top Shop are good. My problem is the fit on the hips, I find as my jeans warm up they get loose and I am forever hoisting them up.

A belt would be a good plan I spose!

boyraiser · 02/01/2010 21:16

Just bought stretch bootcut jeans with 35" leg from www.very.co.uk for £20. Really pleased with them. Usually by LTS, but they are double the price and not particularly well made (I find it irritating that they are too tight to put in proper pockets - trying to save on fabric I think!). They had lots of other types of jeans, all XXL (extra long) or 35". I'm well over 6ft, so might suit you.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 02/01/2010 21:20

Am 5ft11.

Get mine from NewLook Tall or Dotty P's (when they have them in stock )

LadyOfTheFlowers · 02/01/2010 21:21

Ha! I am soooo not tall anymore!

Am clearly titchy reading all these posts with a measly 34 inside leg.

HinnyPet · 04/01/2010 15:25

What's the link for those boyraiser? They sound good :}
