Anyone struggling with their image since becoming a mum.

I don't know what look I'm aiming for tbh as motherhood I've only been a mum for a year and I'm 31 so I'm having a bit of an image crisis.
For example when I first became a mum I bought lots of bf tops which I have now sold and I want to find my own style again.
I am not into Boden either before you start.
In my 20's I wore a lot of skate/bohemian clothes but as I started to grow up I have started to shop more in warehouse and Oasis etc for a more mainstraem look.
I am a bit boho/surfy at heart and I'm also a stay at home mum. I guess I don't want to look like mutton dressed as lamb. Can I still wear surf/skate labels such as roxy and Bench etc or will I look like a saddo?
I also like looking on trend. why am I finding this so hard?

Can you describe your physical features/looks, your good and less good points, your colouring - and some well-known women whose style you would like to emulate (and whose looks aren't a million miles from your own!).

I had exactly the same problem at about the same stage as you and sort of tried to look like a stylish mummy... DD is now 2.3 and I've pretty much gone back to how I looked before I had her. I'm quite a lot older than you and don't give a stuff about the mutton/lamb thing. I think it's more about having the shape and style to carry it off (that said, I'm not like Liz McDonald from Coronation St or anything).

I don't see why you can't do the boho/surfy thing and it might even help you to get back to a place where you're completely comfortable with your style?

Thanks for the advice. I'm 5ft 6", size 7, Blond hair in a bob, size 14/16 but i feel happy-not fat . I am looking to tone up rather than get skinny. By bugbears at the moment is my mummy tummy. I am using slendertone belt sporadically. I also have bigger tits than before at 38dd which annoys me as lots of my old tops and dressess no longer fit.

My problem is as a stay at home mum I don't dress up enough but don't want to slum it completely.

No doubt I'll find my mojo again. I DO want to look like a stylish mummy. I like stylish.

I guess if I start going to the gym in January I will feel better in general and it will all start falling into place.

Hair is highlighted and I also look good with dark hair as am mousy-alas. Bob is layered. I like it as my hair is lank if it is all one length.

When I go out I like to look glam btw as it happens so infrequently!

why cant you wear the surf/skate stuff you wore before you had kids? 31 is still very young. if that's your style then go for it

I felt more feminine after having my first child. Weird,but I'd never been a skirt person, adn then I think i felt like a womam so it no longer felt odd to go out wearing a skirt.

when i was working before i had my dc, my colleagues used to say, maggie has wooden legs ( i always wore trousers)

so having a baby can definitely change the way you dress and feel about clothes. I don't know why,but it improved my style of dress (imo)

ps, do you like limited collection from m&s?, that is fashionable stuff, but well-made and classic enough to have in the wardrobe for a while.

That's odd Maggie. I am 39 too, and have become a skirty person too since having DS 15 months ago. Not long floaty floral ones, but denim and cord short ones with chunky boots.

Posh, I had a sporty kinda look before kids too-I used to mountain bike, so wore addict, animal, kahuna etc. Going out my look was a bit like Pink I suppose.

I find White Stuff and Fat Face are good for long tummy-covering tops. I wear jeans & converse or boots.

I do look a bit of a scruffy, mind.

I feel like I'm just beginning to find 'me' again after 15 months of parenthood. I've found it really hard to move from full time work wardrobe to WAHM/SAHM wardrobe.

I find I'm actually reverting to what I wore as a student (but slightly less cheap and nasty) - knitted dresses and boots, a-line skirts. I have visions of myself as looking like the Brora catalogue circa. a couple of years ago. Probably I don't...

I always wore bohemian style clothes before I had children...I liked Bench, animal, Komodo, Roxy, etc etc.

2 children later and I have also had image crisis; I'm now 35. I still want to look funky and different but i don't want to stand out from the crowd too much..and I want to look smart and stylish too.

Before kids I wanted to stand out...now I think I prefer to blend in a bit more (I guess for my childrens sake!) But I can't help wanting to be a bit different!

I feel like the other Mums at nursery and Ballet class (etc etc) look down their noses at me a bit (probably because I am having a style crisis!) Maybe it's a money thing?? We are working/middle class and live in a very affluent area... I can't afford to shop in the expensive places.

I like Fat Face...and Top Shop is another of my faves. Boden is too horsey for me, although I like mini Boden for my girls.
