okay spooky. What size and budget are we looking at?

spookycharlotte121 · 11/12/2009 00:21

Im a size 14/16 at the mo. Have a huge bum and chunky legs so nothing too revealing.

I dont want to spend any more than £40/£50. havent got a lot of money at the mo so am relying on my student loan coming through in time to buy me a nice dress/outfit.

Im 21 btw.... i liked a dress in m&s but everyone on another thread told me off and said i was too young to wear it lol.

I love this. Body con dresses are great for curves and sequins are so in. BTW- size 14/16 isn't fat and big bums are sexy. Men love em!

Might be a dress more for clubbing than Christmas day with the relatives though!

are also nice and age appropriate.

MadameMoe · 11/12/2009 10:09

Hey, found you! Sorry to have been so blunt about the other dress, but it really was wrong

What sort of shape are you? Which are your good features? Colouring?

This is nice enough if your not wanting to stand out too much and would leave you enough budget to find some shoes and accessories too. If you do go for black, be brave and go for bright shoes!

Poshes pink number is fab, if you dare!

MadameMoe · 11/12/2009 10:10

How tall are you?

MadameMoe · 11/12/2009 10:44

Bumping

THIS is what we're up against! I'm useless but I'm sure you lot can do better! Come on lets make her feel fab

ChrisMissWooWoo · 11/12/2009 11:17

yes come on OP tell us more about your self, I'm sure someone on here can help

tee hee to free willy comment

ChrisMissWooWoo · 11/12/2009 11:31

how about this very plain but looks nice and soft and can jazz up with accessories

this with leggings

this well I like it

slightly over budget but very lovely here although possibily not much room for post dinner bloat!

maybe not your cup of tea?

MadameMoe · 11/12/2009 19:33

Come on Charlotte One last try from me (trying my best to save budget for accessories)...

A couple of LBDs

This would work if you're not too ample of nork.

I always find square necklines very flattering (on me) (norky hour-glass).

ruched fabric is usually quite flattering, not sure what I think of the sequiny bit though.

Does red suit you?

I'm not in the UK so have little idea of were to look

spookycharlotte121 · 11/12/2009 19:51

hello sorry for the delay in replying.... forgot about starting this thread.
I love black (boring i know but i feel comfortable) and accesorising them colours.

Im 5ft 4. qquite lumpy and bumpy lol so dont want anything too clingy.

love quite a few of your suggestions madameMoe. im hoping to go shopping next week with a friend so hopefully she will tell me if i look terrible. will take the codes for those dresses and hope they have them in stock.

theyre very sophisticated looking would make me feel good aabout myself to wear something nice.

Good luck! Go for something fabulous, you deserve it . It sounds like you're a similar body type to me. A damn good bra and magic knickers will work wonders, oh, and I always buy my tights a size or two too big so that I can pull them right up to my bra line. I get a tights induced muffin top otherwise...

I spent my late teens and 20's dressing far too old for my age and I really regret it. I'm 31 now and I still have to fight the tendency!

SueFley · 11/12/2009 19:59

charlotte
get hte dp sparkly sequinned dress ( shoulder seqs only) bargina
get a size up

MadameMoe · 11/12/2009 20:00

There's nowt wrong with black!

MadameMoe · 11/12/2009 20:02

Do you mean this Sue?

spookycharlotte121 · 11/12/2009 20:16

lol.... i dress like a mum. thing is everyone i know who is a mum is in their 30s.

oooh the sequin dress is nice! would it look ok with black tights d'ya think?

I just wnat to feel good about myself. I feel horrible at the moment.

OP posts:
MadameMoe · 11/12/2009 21:38

Lol! So do I, now. I used to dress like a grumpy MIL.

Great dress! I bet it'd really suit you. It should be fine with black tights. Do you have shoes?

I saw these silver courts on the new look site, not sure they'd work but I think they might...

Clure · 12/12/2009 12:08

I think MadamMoe has suggested some good choices for you! Also found this
this could be dressed up with accessories
this, wallis has some fab frocks at the mo and this

Elemental · 12/12/2009 21:14

I've got that Very grey dress and am size 14 (but also a mum in my thirties!). It's very nice, quite thin jersey so OK for indoors with the long sleeves, but I find I need a vest top underneath, quite low cut on my short frame (5'1).

I've got this dress that I'm planning to wear for Christmas, the drapery is nice flattering to c section belly - www.wallis.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=true&catalogId=20 551&storeId=12557&categoryId=140432&parentcategoryrn=140428&productId=1372155&langId=-1.

Either that or a nice black jersey dress with silky bands at the end of the sleeves and hem that was £7.99 from H and M last week.

NorkilyChallenged · 12/12/2009 23:00

Purple and good price!

NorkilyChallenged · 12/12/2009 23:02
