anyone use Benetint?

LetThemEatCake · 10/12/2009 17:44

could you tell me a bit about it please?

I've never worn makeup but with 37 looming less than 2 weeks from now, I accept that I may be needing a little help, especially in the absence of any summery glow

There's no way I'll wear foundation - I just know I wouldn't - so I was contemplating this product for a bit of colour - am I on the right track??

Am olive skinned, if that's relevant

Thanks

I love the stuff; I wear tinted moisturiser and rub the benetint onto the apples of my cheeks and use it as a lipstain too.

It brightens me up without looking too 'done'.

SnailWhaleTail · 10/12/2009 19:33

Forgot to add I am blonde, pink-ish and quite fair so can't advise on that front!

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 10/12/2009 19:34

Amazing stuff! Get the HighBeam too

If you feel you want a foundation type thing, their SomeKindaGorgeous is really good just smooths on and within about 5 mins you are left with dewey looking skin.

Not on it's own - try Rush Hour by Benefit instead. I use both, and most of the rest of the Benefit range....

grumpypants · 10/12/2009 19:36

ooooh Alice you sound a bit like me (addicted!)

weepootle · 10/12/2009 19:38

I'm olive skinned and never leave the house with putting on benetint. I use a little of their Hoola bronzer as well.

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 10/12/2009 19:38

I don't wear make up very often but when i do it has to look natural and be foolproof and Benefit does that well (as well being in pretty containers with good names)

grumpypants · 10/12/2009 19:41

I may start a fan club on Facebook. I do the whole thing (not skincare, my mum bought me a Clarins starter pack, and am now using their stuff, nearly died when lady behind counter charged me £36 for moisturiser). I love Mr Frosty, Benetint, Rush Hour, Erase Paste, and Cupids Bow thing. But can't find a decent mascara.

Petsville · 10/12/2009 19:41

I do and love it. Also, if Benetint looks a bit expensive, Collection 2000 do a cheek and lip stain which is indistinguishable from it and costs a fraction of the price - called The Cheek of It, I think. As far as I can see the only difference is that the brush in the cheap one is a bit stiffer.

LaDiDaDi · 10/12/2009 19:46

I tried a cheaper one once, though not the Collection 2000 one.

I had red angry swollen cheeks and lips for days afterwards!

Back to Benetint for me .

Petsville · 10/12/2009 19:49

Collection 2000 smells the same as the Benetint, so I think it probably is pretty much the same stuff - it certainly behaves in exactly the same way. I have sensitive skin and haven't reacted badly to it.

On the other hand, Collection 2000 only do one colour - I'm olive-skinned so theirs suits me, but it might not work on very fair skin.

LaDiDaDi · 10/12/2009 19:52

Will look out for the Collection 2000 one then, I can always try it somewhere less obvious than my face!

MrsEricBana · 10/12/2009 19:58

Ooh ooh, me me! (calm down Eric) Yes I am olive skinned and swear by Benetint. I also don't wear foundation, just do Benetint on apples of cheeks, a little powder and then concealer and that's it (and some eye and lip stuff too). The Benetint makes loads of difference as it doesn't look like blusher as such, just gives a healthy glow, and does last ages.

So what's HighBeam then? Have heard of it.

traceybath · 10/12/2009 20:22

LTEC - I'd go to the benefit counter and get them to help you.

You're very pretty so don't need much make up. However I find the older I get that blusher makes a massive difference.

Hows the diet going - mine's ok but just so dull.

BonjourIvressedeNoel · 10/12/2009 20:30

I only wear it on my lips. How does one apply it to your cheeks?

mrswill · 10/12/2009 20:37

I do makeup on the side to my 'proper job, what i find is that Benetint is great, especially when combined with Highbeam on your cheeks (Highbeam - a sort of pink luminous cream which adds an dewiness(sp?) that makes you look younger.

What would probably look better on olive skin though is Rushhour tint blended with Moonbeam (the same luminous cream but is more peachy/golden), on your cheeks.

Benefit also do some lovely powders, which give a really nice texture and colour to your face - 'georgia' is very good, it gives a peachy tint to the skin, with no fuss, just a dust over of powder.

eshermummy · 10/12/2009 21:01

Sorry to hi-jack ladies but those of you that swear by Benefit - is it better than NARS the Multiple?

I have been using the No 7 cream blush sticks but was thinking of upgrading to a premium formulation - is benetint/rush hour better than NARS then?

Duritzfan · 10/12/2009 21:09

Grumpypants have you tried Lancome Extreme ?

I have just been and bought some as it was recommended by a friend of mine and I AM IN LOVE !!

I am another Benefit fan too....x

crankytwanky · 10/12/2009 21:16

Benetint smells divine too! Like roses.

Poppity · 10/12/2009 21:25

grumpypants try Blinc mascara, it's fab for a natural no make up look.

I am a new convert, someone on here recommended it, you can get a trial size here

jooseyfruit · 10/12/2009 21:29

esher- I use Nars multiple in Copacabana as a highlighter on cheekbones and brow bone, it's lovely and do prefer it to high beam.

I use rosy Vaseline on lips and cheeks but that isn't as good as benetint !

eshermummy · 10/12/2009 21:34

I was going to go for NARS in either orgasm or portofino - are they too shimmery to use as blush then? Only suitable as a highlighter?

I also have the lancome magie blush but find it a bit shimmery and dry for everyday - think it works best over proper foundation which I don't wear every day, only for best

LetThemEatCake · 11/12/2009 00:00

okay .. have used the 25% off code for HQ Hair and have bought a few of the items recommended on this thread - thanks ladies!

eshermummy - did you see the half-price American Vintage that I linked to on another thread?

traceybath - diet is okay but I have lost all sense of perspective ... dc is nearly 11 weeks now and my "me" head tells me that I should be back to 'normal' and is angry with myself that I'm not, while my rational side says "get a grip! he's not even 3 months yet!"

I just wanted to be back in all my old clothes (and maybe a few new ones!! ;-p ) for my birthday, Christmas etc ... but hey ho. Summer is when it counts, right?? I am at leats running x3 a week again, so that feels good and is valuable for my head, too.

So are you nearly back to your pre-preg self? Planning on relaxing the rules over Xmas?

OP posts:
traceybath · 11/12/2009 06:45

I'm 4.5 lbs off what I should be but should do some running - you're very good. And 11 wks is still very early days especially when bf.

Am going to eat what I want for a couple of days over christmas but not go too mad.

Do you know when the netaporter sale starts?
