What to wear with grey velvet jeans?

Hi,

I have a pair of dark grey velvet jeans which I love but I just can't figure out what to wear with them! I know I could just do black jumpers but that seems a bit boring. Any other ideas? Or ways of making the black jumper option less boring?

I should probably add that I'm not looking for ideas for new things to buy, more just inspiration from my existing wardrobe. Also I am very petite (4'11") so long baggy things don't work on me.

I'm loving greys with berry colours at the moment. Weave in some goldy jewellery (sp) and bob's your uncle.

Seem to wear that sort of thing everyday at the moment.

whifflegarden - I love berry colours. They make up about 80% of my wardrobe but for some reason I hadn't considered that, thanks!

I also like the idea of dressing up black with jewellery. Thanks for that tip too.

Yep - berrys and even bluey purples iyswm. Or look in the 'teal' area.

Thanks guys. As I said, I have loads of purples and even have a couple of teal things. Thanks for getting me out of the "black" rut. In my youth I pretty much only wore black and even now I find it difficult to put together an outfit that doesn't contain some black!!

Never mind what to wear with them, where did you GET them? I want some!

I have some dark grey velvet jeans- Boden ...ahem.
I wear a lovely blue jumper- it's a kind of paler version of a royal blue, purple, grey tank top, with a white T under.
I think black will kill it dead- go for camel or even a oatmeal colour if that suits you.

stillfrazzled - they are from Next. Got them a few months ago though so don't know if they still have them. They had them in grey and black.

purplepeony - I think you are right that black is not working well. I don't have any oatmeal-type clothes but am def going to work the berry/teal thing.
