I love the Boden ruched waist one, but the neck line is too high for my boobs. Is there anything else similar around - maybe with a slightly shorter skirt?

Can go up to about £80.

Am going on a date on Saturday and wantneed to buy myself a Christmas present anyway, so that's my excuse.

I have trawled the web in vain, but I know you lot have magic shopping superpowers...

Why a shift especially?

TX Maxx have loads of great dresses at the moment.

www.pretaportobello.com/shop/dresses/dresses/pixie-grey-frill-sleeve-knit-dress.aspx

would look great with skinny jeans and heels.

But browse the rest of that site..I dare you not to buy anything.

Thanks Devil, love that site.

this is the Boden one. I like the retro-y 50s feel.

I'm looking for something slightly fitted (more flattering for me) and a bit dressy, to wear with heels.

Try topshop - Zara- H&M - coast - French Conection.

Sorry i'm on and off the pc so don't have time to hunt but this is exactly the challenge I love. I'll be back on later.

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 07/12/2009 16:27

Thanks TDWP

Hadn't thought of French Connection or Coast - seems obvious now you say it

La Redoute? I think they still do express delivery.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 07/12/2009 16:31

But (ahem) more about that date?

SerenityNowAKABleh · 07/12/2009 16:34

I bought a great shift dress from H&M about four years ago, and it's still going strong.

NorkilyChallenged · 07/12/2009 16:36

This from Coast??

Phase Eight have 25% off dresses,

this is a lovely colour but maybe not dressy enough?

I love this and it has a 50s feel, if you have the figure and the confidence it could look stunning!

What about this?

actually lots of lovely dressy ones there so have a look

SuWoombOfImmaculateConception · 07/12/2009 16:42

There are 115 styles listed under shift on Asos.

Havent checked the links so apologies if someone has already linked to this one, but bought this one yesterday for a wedding at Christmas - fits really nicely. Turquoise dress with detail (Fingers crossed for link!)

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 07/12/2009 22:54

Sorry, just got back from pantomime with dd. Thanks for all the linkies ladies.

Some of those Phase Eight ones are nice, there is a store near my office so will go and have a look later in the week.

Pickled, your turquoise one is gorgeous.

I am too fussy I think. Looked at ASOS earlier and the only one that I really liked had sold out in my size - bummer as only £28.

The necklines tend to be a problem as I'm a size 10 and GG.

(Devil - date is a blind one that my sister in law has set me up with. We have been emailing and chatted over the phone at the weekend. He sounds and looks nice enough... we shall see )
