The perfect day dress? Help me find it!

I've been rationalising my wardrobe and am pondering whether next year might be my 'stopping shopping' year.. (Yikes!) I do have enough clothes, and reckon I could go a whole year (I plan on being preggers again next year so will be back in maternity clothes for part of the time hopefully) - BUT before my shopping ban starts, I need the perfect day dress (I know I know, but I need something nice to keep me going a whole year!) - Maybe a wrap dress, maybe a tunic. I like French Connection style dresses but there's nothing nice there at the moment. I was thinking of something I can live in, wear with tights and boots, over jeans maybe or dress up for the evening. Anyone got the perfect dress?

I've just bought a lovely angora (mix) black dress from sainsbos. It was £30 but with 25% off (ends tomorrow I think). Can't find a link and hard to describe, short sleeved with a kind of chiffony shirt detail at the neck/shoulders, it's clingy (but I am a top of the scale size 12 with a mummy tummy and it looks fab). Very soft, can be dressed up and down.

I think White Stuff dresses can be pretty versatile - something like this maybe? Would work with boots, over jeans/leggings, and accessorised up for evenings....

Good luck!

I can't help really, but I would go for something plain, maybe buttoned, so you can wear it open with layers, sleeveless, so it works summer/winter.
