washing cream cashmere

My favourite cashmere cardigan is an off-white colour so it gets filthy pretty regularly.

I usually wash all wools in the machine, it has a special cycle that treats cashmere very well, but I'm having problems getting this cardigan properly clean.

Obviously I can't soak it, or put it on a higher temperature (I do it on cold), and I usually use a very mild detergent, but it's really looking permanently grubby now.

Any ideas on how to rescue it? I really can't afford to replace it. And I love it sooooooo much. It just never looks properly clean.

Woolite?

What's made it so grubby?

Is it stained or just grey/black with dust etc?

Can#t think of anything else, but if you DO get it clean then maybe wash after each wear even if it doesn't look dirty?
