Boys' tights

Would you put your baby boy in tights?

I've tried to find footed trousers everywhere but they are either too expensive (green baby) or I don't like the style (Jojo maman).

He always has a gap between his socks and trousers, and always pulls his socks off anyway?

I think tights might be the answer. Navy? Stripy? Brown?

DH disapproves.

Verdict please

I wouldn't mind putting a boy in tights personally. I dress DS (3.5) in leggings a lot as they are comfy for him, fun, and don't trail in puddles.

Legwarmers do a good job of filling the gap between socks and trousers, and easy to roll up and down if you are inside then out

I dress DS (10 months) in DDs old tights the whole time, socks fall off and it's too cold to be bear footed so tights are the answer. They do cheapo navy plain ones in Primark and in M&S. Poor DS has pink stripy ones, blue ones with hearts, and a lovely pair of cream ones with a butterfly on the ankle

Also second legwarmers, DS has some like this from ebay, there are tons of boyish designs.

Why does DH disapprove? He's a baby (maybe I am scarring DS for life )

I love those tights, they are th eones DS wears as DD had them last year, think they are very unisex!

Mothercare do plain red tights for babies and plain white and cream as well

LouIsAWeetbixKid · 02/12/2009 21:31

Heaps of people I know put their boys in tight. Very common in some parts of Europe. I know some men who wear them as they are skinny and get cold.

I put my DS (6 months) in DD's old tights since the weather has got cold, she had tons of plain white, cream, red and navy ones. No one knows he's wearing them under his trousers. My Dh was fine about it (only if I put trousers on top ), as long as your baby is warm who cares. DS is sleeping in pink grow bags too

All my German and Polish friends think this is the norm, admittedly they have 'male' pictures on them but who can tell under trousers. I tend to put socks over the tights too for extra warmth

Go for it... I had my ds' in tights during the winter. Who cares what they look like as long as they're warm.
Got to say though, those next ones are very cute.

capstock · 02/12/2009 21:53

Yes why not? Call it thermal undies if you'd feel better about it!

differentID · 02/12/2009 21:54

I always recommend tights if customers ask about sock removing.
