Help with accessorising

Hi, I've just bought this dress.

DH reckons it needs some nice accessories, like a necklace/ bracelet/ dangly earrings to jazz it up for a party. I was thinking of wearing opaque dark brown tights and brown court shoes (don't have any others, and don't want to buy for one ocasion), but it all looks a tad dull.

What accessories could I get that would look good, but I don't have to spend a fortune on?

Dress is a fabulous colour!

Are you sure about wearing brown tights and court shoes with it? I'd go with black tights and something like these shoe boots then add a cuff and a statement necklace.

OMG, I love the shoes, Amandoh. Never thought of black with green, but I have a nice pair of black tights that may look good. I love that necklace too...!

I have to be careful as I am quite petite, and with skinny legs. I'll take myself off to Debenhams again tomorrow/

Glad you like the shoes NickNemo.

Little warning about Debenhams though... Sometimes what looks fab in a photo doesn't look quite as good close up so if it's the case with the ones I linked to (Really hope it's not!) then New Look have a similar pair as do Dorothy Perkins and I think I saw some similar in Next too.

Will you let us know what the shoes are like please?

Wouldn't go for black (remember that bright colours with black always look cheap). I'd go for the brown, then accessorise with chunky wood and diamante (good contrasts). But that's just me

I remember the "Colour and black looks cheap" rule being churned out by Trinny and Suz for a while but I don't think it applies in all cases.

I think Sienna Miller looks fine as does whoever this is.

Although "cheap" is probably the right adjective here.
