Style and beauty

help me decide- Jigsaw tops...

I bought these online after seeing them in stores but running out of time to try on.
I intended to get one and return one. They have arrived and I like them both!

tell me ladies:

  • are they ridiculously expensive for tops?
  • would they suit me and not make me look pregnant?
    I am a size 10 and 5' 3"

I intend to wear with black and grey velvet trousers / skinnyish jeans. The 2nd one is actually longer on me than on the model who must be very tall!

they are ridiculously expensive for tops, but as these things go they are nice

They're both nice, although the second one would definitely make anyone with any boobs at all look pregnant. Bloody expensive for fairly dull tops though, I reckon.

They are boring and ridiculously over priced imo. Sorry!

You could get similar in H&M or any other high street shop for a third of the price!

They also look very shapeless especially considering you're only a wee size 10.

In their defence they are nice material- the darker one is lyocell and the pale one has a silk trim to the neckline.

I don't think they are too boring as I am very old....

I'm not in my 20s, 30s or even 40s!

purple - if you like them and can afford them keep them

Hm... you've got me thinking now!

I saw a lovely short sleeve top in Ted Baker but that was £49- for a T shirt with a few bows round the neckline.

Ted baker Unfortunately the T shirt is not on the website (yet?) It's short sleeved, pale grey and has a slightly scoop neck with a row of silk bows along it- not big bows, they are stitched down. Tried it on in J Lewis but was dithering about £49 for a T shirt!!!!!

This the one purple?

Very cute! I like! It's lovely in the blue.

eek! It wasn't there yesterday when I looked ! Thanks! Does it get the vote rather than the Jigsaw ones!
The blue is a teeny bit dark for me- in reallife it is almost navy/royal blue.

I'd need to wear a cardi to keep me warm.....

I like the second one better, but still wouldn't be very flattering.

I really like the Ted Baker one.

Go to women, tops and on the left there's a list of brands with a clickable option for more brands underneath?

Ted Baker isn't on the list that pops up?

The t-shirt is the second on the Ted Baker page?

In black so pretty unrecognisable!

They are fine - and stick with Jigsaw. It is a fine place for a lady of a certain age to shop! (I get a lot of work stuff there and am in early 30s actually). I think it is very wise to stick to quality stores once you are past your mid-20s. They would not be my choice - I prefer their knitwear really - but I know their jersey stuff does drape very nicely. So go for it if you like and they suit you.

I like the 2nd one with the shoulder frills.

But they are both handwash! Or will they be OK in the machine? I'm not familiar with Jigsaw stuff.

I am very confused now- my concerns over the Jigsaw tops were that they would not show off my waist- which is still just there- and make me look preggers.

The material is high quality and the colours are flattering- the frilled shoulder one is more teal in reality than airforce blue. But it is smocky!

I have a top from Jigsaw in the same style and I love it. It dosen't make me look pregnant and the quality is excellent. Mine has a silk trim - I wash it on the wool programme. Well worth the money imo.
