What to wear with this dress?

I'm planning to wear this dress to a wedding in London in a few weeks.
Am optimistically hoping it is a deeper purple than the photo suggests.

Was thinking bolero / shrug type thing.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received?

gorgeous dress!

do you like the idea of a sparkly shrug thing?

gigglewitch · 30/11/2009 00:08

long sleeves? or a furry thing?

gigglewitch · 30/11/2009 00:15

fur

I love this but it's black and 40 quid

pashmina style might be nice, but probably can't do a thing til the dress arrives...

FYI there are several of these dresses on ebay and they all look a similar colour ie magenta pink rather than purple

Thanks, like all of those ideas Gigglewitch, will wait and what shade the dress is.

I wondered about sparkly silver shrug or furry white bolero too, like the idea of a patterned pashmina.

I was hoping for a Quality Street purple as this picture suggests but will have to wait and see.

Then there's the shoes to think about!

well I've decided I want this for over my summer prom-style dress which is going to transform itself into a christmas party dress in the very near future

I'm sure you can find a shoe-addict round here, I'm a shoe hater so no use to you whatsoever.
love the 'quality street purple' description, great colour - but as you say we'll have to wait and see! Even if it's the pinker side of purple-ish, it will still be lovely for a wedding.

I like your style GW, hope I can get some summer wear out of this one too.

Am off in search of a furry shrug number and possibly suitable footwear, although I think I've got a pair of strappy black / sparkly heels somewhere which might do the trick.

Shoe addicts - How can I do strappy heels and tights without the hideous toe seam business?
Or alternatively can you suggests some suitable footwear?

You can get tights without the toe seam bit in Boots and M & S- can't remeber what they are called but they are there if you look int he tights section. I wear them with peep toes with no problem.
