L'Occitane En Provence stuff - any good?

They have just opened a shop in my town, haven't been in yet, but was thinking might be a nice Christmas present idea for MIL.

Has anyone tried their stuff and is it any good?

They are also doing a promotion where if you spend £40 you get a free set (worth £20) which is tempting.

I like it. Sometimes have bought the gifts sets from QVC when on a good offer

Lavender handwash, milk or lavender shower creams, shea butter soaps, almond oil shower stuff are all lovely.

henryhuggins · 29/11/2009 17:26

yes - love their soaps and lotions! some of the stuff is pretty stinky tho, subjective I suppose

moondog · 29/11/2009 17:26

Nice but dreadfully overpriced.

mrspnut · 29/11/2009 17:28

It is very nice stuff, the shea butter items are very soothing even for my sensitive skin.

theminniebauble · 29/11/2009 17:30

It's really lovely. Whilst it's not the cheapest it is still less money than, say Molton Brown and equal (if not better) in quality. I love the fragrances (virtually all of them) and the body lotions etc that go with them. I would be thrilled if someone wrapped up some l'Occitane for me for Christmas!

HuwEdwards · 29/11/2009 17:33

I find the fragrances really over-powering.

bluebump · 29/11/2009 17:35

The hand/foot creams are amazing.

inveteratenamechanger · 29/11/2009 17:50

I particularly like the candles and the almond milk body cream.

soyabean · 29/11/2009 17:52

perfect for a MIL I would say - my dm was just asking today ewhere she cd get some as I gave her a set last Xmas which she loved

Bucharest · 29/11/2009 18:00

I would love it as a present!
They are doing a v good offer on their shea butter set at the moment- I got an email from them on Friday, it's £39 instead of £61 IIRC.
When you go in, make sure you sign up for their preferential customer email, then you get 20% vouchers and what have you!

tulpe · 29/11/2009 18:23

Love this range. Worth the money and outperforms Molten Brown and the like by miles.

The lavender handcream is just heaven at this time of year

kimlouiseb · 29/11/2009 19:56

Ooooh sounds good. Thanks for the feedback. Am going to go in and have a look.

I second the rave reviews for the hand and foot creams (20% shea butter is best imo) - they are the only ones I've found that really work on my alligator like hide

castille · 29/11/2009 20:04

YES, their handcream is indeed fantastic, I have a small tube of it in my bag at all times.

SuperflousBuns · 29/11/2009 20:08

The almond shower oil is lovely, qvc prob does the best prices tho

purplepeony · 29/11/2009 20:25

Verbena shower gel and lotion are my mum's and my favourites, Green Tea is nice and Lemon verbena too.

My DD loves the cherry one...bath stuff/body lotion.

broccoliandchips · 29/11/2009 20:40

Shea butter - absolutely the only thing that can sort out my dry, cracked, peeling, bleeding hands etc. I understand it is good/pure enough to use on babies too.

AuldAlliance · 29/11/2009 21:05

It is worth the money, IMO, as it lasts for ages.
It's made just up the road from me. Just past the huge nuclear research plant.
