I don't have a trilby, but if I did I would look like Harry Lime.

CocoLP · 28/11/2009 09:05

Only the young can get away with them, and I'm a hat person.

sassy · 28/11/2009 09:17

Love the idea and like hats

but nay. Bit too Joan Collins, darhling.

MarthaFarquhar · 28/11/2009 09:26

ooh, I would love one, but am worried about looking like one of Pete Doherty's hangers-on.

Amandoh · 28/11/2009 10:15

I bought two on Ebay last week. Both cord, one black and the other beige.

I have a feeling I'm going to look like a cheap Joan Collins but I want something a little smarter than a wooly hat.

I'll let you know whether I'm brave enough to venture out in one when they arrive.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 28/11/2009 10:21

No but I do have a cloche like this one and I love it

Ronaldinhio · 28/11/2009 10:30

nah my head is like a pumkin and therefore I've never been able to find one that fits to make the decision

i think it would be wearing me as well if i'm honest

noddyholder · 28/11/2009 10:40

They are very flattering ime

DanDruff · 28/11/2009 14:00

ooh amandoh do report back

OP posts:
Amandoh · 28/11/2009 14:03

Will do.

I've got a couple like the one TheDevilWearsPrimark linked to and I love them but I've only got a small head and end up with neck ache from having to hold my head back as far as it will go to see.

I look very stupid at times.

DanDruff · 28/11/2009 14:04

no cloche ones are vile

OP posts:
noddyholder · 28/11/2009 14:05

Depends on hair

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 28/11/2009 14:06

I have had one for 3 years and I love it, no idea if it's effortless stylish and live nowhere near Pimlico. HTH.

southeastastra · 28/11/2009 14:06

my son has one from hennes. can women wear trilbys? can you link one? only really thought of men wearing them

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 28/11/2009 14:09

I have this one in black.

TheCrackFox · 28/11/2009 14:13

I was thinking of venturing into trilby territory this year. Getting a bit bored of wearing a beanie hat.

southeastastra · 28/11/2009 14:17

ooh i like that libra. i think we should all get one this year

TheCrackFox · 28/11/2009 14:30

I like this one

MrsBadger · 28/11/2009 14:54

not 'effortlessly stylish' but a damn sight more stylish than were I wearing a knitted beanie / peruvian earflap / farkign baker boy cap

though my bucket-shaped one (like cloche but brimmier) is actually warmer

CybilLiberty · 28/11/2009 14:58

I have a brown felt trilby from marks last year. it has a jaunty feather! And no I don;t look like yodeller in it

Ronaldinhio · 28/11/2009 16:23

dear god

they do them in sizes....right I need advice

should I buy one for my pumpkin head or would it be like putting a thin belt on one of the two fat ladies?

Ronaldinhio · 28/11/2009 16:26

crackfox i really like that hat!

noddyholder · 28/11/2009 17:30

groovy

EdgarAllenPoo · 28/11/2009 19:49

i suppose if you were going for a gamine look, it would work great.

hre is a sleb doing it

i am a turnip-head, and therefore don't wear hats except the woolly kind that is all about warmth.

Amandoh · 28/11/2009 21:25

I tried one on in M&S today. It said "One size" on the label but it's way too big on me. DP said it would "Be ok with scrunched up newspaper stuffed in the top." He's very make do and mend.

M&S sizes are normally very generous so I'm hoping it's the same with their hats and that the two that are on the way are smaller.
