Are they a bad idea to wear in the rain?

I quite fancy some Celts but I imagine them getting soggy in bad weather then smelling like wet dog for 2 days whilst they dry out...

They do not withstand a proper soaking, but I live in Scotland- if I never wore my Celts in the rain I'd never wear them full stop! They are thick and fleecy enough to be ok and don't really take too long to dry IME. Celtic Sheepskin Co do some waterproofy ones (or they certainly used to) but they are quite plain.

OK, that really puts me off them.
I hate the smell of wet dog and I can't be doing with looking out for puddles whilst yomping about w the DD's...
The waterproof ones look naff IMO- would rather trog about in my Hunters.
