Help me find a party dress for 10yo DD - I'm struggling

She is tall for her age and quite a girly girl, but doesn't want sparkly or loud.

Her favourite dress ever was a silk velour party dress from Boden and she wants something similar but Boden don't have anything like it any more.

Any ideas?

Budget?

I linked to Little Fashion Gallery on the Codes/Promotions topic earlier today - there is 30% off, starting this morning, with the code.

anything here?

10yo girls are quite hard to dress, IMO. I have one and while she loves girly clothes, she's also trying to be fashionable. Funny age.

There are girls in her class who do nothing but shop, dress up, put on make up, do hair, nails etc = DD calls them the "shopping girls"

silk velour says you have a generous budget in which case what about ilovegorgeous? just don't let her see the marie antoinette dresses unless your budget is extremely generous (if i were ten i would die for one of those dresses).

TK Maxx gets some lovely girls dresses in, ladies sizes start very small got my youngest her dress for her dance there last year think it was about a size 4 she's quite small for her age.

Budget no more than about £40, so not enough for I love gorgeous, though she would love one!

Particularly as she goes to secondary next year and like her sister will probably lose interest (at least on the surface) in all things little girly overnight

Which is why I think something quite plain but still partyish (hence the velvet

Debenhams ones are the right sort of idea

will look at Little Fashion Gallery but their site drives me mad - tiny pictures!

Purple velvet

I love this Monsoon dress and it's under budget

purple organza

Is it too young?

Also quite like this one:

blue sequins

In fact I think all the dresses are worth a browse

What about Debenhams? They had a nice blue taffeta prom dress debenhams

castille · 24/11/2009 10:38

Love both those purple ones, and both reduced

Forgot to mention that she has to be able to dance in it, it is her Number One Criteria. Mine is not too fragile, her clothes get torn and stained far too regularly
