Prescriptives eyebrow pencil
Estee Lauder or Prescriptives eye shadows
YSL or MAC eyeliners depending whether I want crisp or smoky

BitOfFun · 23/11/2009 23:31

A small vibrator with worn-out batteries. Good for a natural fush when it worked though

Cosmetic-wise, a mixture of No.7 and a few MAC bits. Oh, and a Revlon skinlights base.

heartofgold · 23/11/2009 23:48

i am cheap when it comes to makeup, and much of it is left over from pre-kids (eldest is nearly 7 )

ruby & millie prebase (wavering on this might try the smashbox primer thing instead)
bodyshop concealer (min. 10 yrs old)
17 loose powder (do they still exist?)
17 black eyeliner for eyes/brows (doesn't look as bad as it sounds!)
random clear mascara for brows
random black waterproof mascara
any one of a million sparkly eyeshadows, all cheap, maybe the odd urban decay
lush lip salve

I felt like a 'blank canvas' when pregnant, and feel a bit like a giddy teenager rediscovering make-up again.

Things in my makeup bag that I use every day:

Foundation (currently Clinique stay true, but I prefer lancome Teint Idole. I think it's totally worth getting a foundation match at a counter).
Loose Powder (Clinique glow 03. Been using it for years. Cornsilk is a good subsititute though).
Benefit Thrrrob powder (the one I'm on I got when I was 20 weeks pregnant and my son is nearly 15mo and it's still got a third left, and I use it everyday).
Coloured eyeliner (Get the Urban Decay 24/7 secret stash...)
Thick black mascara (Max Factor Masterpiece Max ftw).
Eyebrow gel (Benefit speed brow)
Lipbalm (the new TBS vanilla nutmeg one has a bit of gold glimmer in it and smells like Avon 'little blossom' tinted lipbalm from the 80's...).

If you want to save some money, get urban decay eyeshadow primer. it makes cheap eyeshadows stay on for hours and look really vibrant. Makes Collection 2000 look like MAC. Sometimes...

This is a good time of year for freebies from makeup counters too, which can get you trial sizes of products you're after. Through the Lancome GWP's I managed to avoid buying mascara for 18 months...

Maltesesunshine · 24/11/2009 00:17

Oooh I forgot Urban Decay cream white eyeshadow which I put in the corner of my eyes (apparently it makes you look younger and more bright eyed)

It's so good isn't it teameric? It was a hen night present from my girlfriends and I prefer wearing it to perfume.

teameric · 24/11/2009 10:17

My DH always buys me it for my birthday, the smell lasts for ages, gorgeous!

Louby3000 · 24/11/2009 11:14

YSL touche elclat for under eyes
No7 concealer for red blotches
No7 loose powder
Lancome cream blusher or Benefit Thrrob
Lancome Deficinals mascara (this is superb if you have short stumpy lashes like mine) or Benefit bad gal
MAC eyeshadow (sometimes) in vox, sprout
MAC cream highlighter (sometimes) in shell
MAC lip glass in clear, lust, pout
Benefit lip gloss in the pale shimmery one (?)
Lansinoh cream now used as a lip gloss, nail cutical softner

I would spend the extra on mascara and concelar, if you can.

Walnut8 · 24/11/2009 12:42

Revlon Colorstay in Sand Beige (have yet to try anything else that is not too drying but stays put, covers well but & doesn't make me break out ... if anyone has any recommendations...)
NARS bronzer in Laguna (love this)

Clinique high definition lashes mascara & Max Factor False lash effect (I need to try that No 7 sensitive mascara)

Sparkletastic · 24/11/2009 12:50

My best mate's sis who is a professional make-up artist did a makeover for me at the weekend. When she asked what look I was going for I said 'younger' of course.... She used a lot of Bobbi Brown products which I promptly went and bought as I was impressed by the quality - stick foundation (a little goes a very long way when blended with a brush), loose foundation, Calypso Coral lips / cheeks blush pot and a Sable eyeshadow. I like Mac lipsticks but think the eyeshadows tend to be too sparkly and not pigmented enough. Nars The Multiple in whatever shade good for you also great for lips and cheeks. Cheapo mascara and replace frequently is best bet IMO - Max Factor is my fave.

Sparkletastic · 24/11/2009 12:51

I would say it is useless to ask for colour recommendations on the whole unless it is from someone who has exactly the same skin, hair and eye colours as you. You need to give things a try but I know that's tough with kids in tow....

Walnut8 · 24/11/2009 13:01

I totally agree Sparkletastic, I was going to add that I'm a pale blonde - makes a difference when you are trying to choose colours! Can I ask which Bobbi Brown foundations the MUA used? Was it just the stick and the "loose foundation" ? What is loose foundation?

MayorNaze · 24/11/2009 13:03

for every day:

avon magix primer stuff

bobbi brown foundation and concealor (powder is in a little pot under the concealor

purplepeony · 24/11/2009 13:50

Lancome Hypnose mascara

Clinique eye pencil

Laura Mercier/Prescriptives powder blusher

Sparkletastic · 24/11/2009 14:39

Sorry was typing rubbish - loose dusting powder by BB not loose foundation! The BB stick foundation is ace as no need for concealer too as can use it as both despite it giving a natural finish. I am a very freckly brunette and look mad and poorly if my freckles are blended out....

MissWooWoo · 24/11/2009 15:24

just dug mine out from under the biggest pile of ironing ever ever ever.

It never seems to have the same stuff in it (I have an overflow bag) even though I rarely wear full slap and these days only wear a minimal face 3 times a week or thereabouts.

Today ....
Clinique superbalanced makeup, beige chiffon
foundation brush
No 7 Stay Perfect eyeshadow trio in "romantic" that's purple to you and me (years old!)
eyeshadow brush
Bobbi brown long wear cream shadow, cement
Bobbi brown creamy eye pencil, walnut 1 (brown)
Rimmel Lash Maxxx, black
Bourjois powder blush, rose
Blusher brush
No7 Intense Volume mascara, black (from last christmas, dried up ...why is it still in here?)
No7 Liquid eyeliner, brown
Body Shop eyelash curlers (filthy, need replacing)
1 pink and 1 red hair slide (Sainsburys, dd's)
black hair band
gold necklace left to me by my nan (put in their for "safe keeping" when clasp broke, still there! still not repaired!!!)

For the record I'm not wearing any today as couldn't be arsed to dig under ironing to find bag.

lumpsdumps · 24/11/2009 16:11

In mine, there is far too much! Don't wear it on a daily basis except foundation, mascara and eyeliner. So here's my list

Chanel foundation - the one that is always on here
Max factor mineral foundation powder
Bourjouis mascaras, have the new 1000 lash one, clubbing one and liner one - do use all three depending on occasion
Benefit "who's that gal"
Benefit "moonbeam"
Benefit "She la"
Almost every colour of eyeshadow that Bourjouis do
Benefit "Benetint"
Benefit "Posie Tint"
Bourjouis blushers
Maybelline blushers
Eyeliners in lots of different colours either from No 7, body shop or rimmel

happilyeverafter · 24/11/2009 16:20

I wear daily:

Clarins instant smooth foundation in 'tender beige'
Lancome blusher - colour rubbed off bottom but is pink
No7 bronzer (depending on how pasty I look)
YSL radient touch (depending on how rough I look)
Clinque crayon eyeliner in black
Chanel eyeshadow in 45 safari (brown)
Maybelline great lash mascara in black

Then have a selection of Lancome juicy tubes and Stila lipgloss, mac lipsticks and a neutral Mac lipliner that is really good when I am wearing gloss.
