Pewter Shoes.

I'm going to a wedding inbetween christmas and new year. I already have a lovely dress I bought in last years Monsoon sale with a bit of forward planning in mind!
This is the dress.

I'm just really unsure what to do about shoes. I can't afford to spend more than about £65 and need to be able to get some use of of them with other things so was thinking about pewter. To make life even harder I want closed toes as I need to be able to wear tights at that time of year! I like these but would they go with the dress? Any advice would be welcome as I'm really not sure what to go for.

I think definitely colour wise they would - my only reservation would be that the toe looks chunky-ish and not sure if it would be too chunky for the floatyness of the dress. Nice shoes though - and thank you - I have been looking for something similar for a wedding I am going to. Again, a slight reservation over toe but think I might order them to see !

I think that is one of my concerns Wheelybug, that they aren't very delicate! Normally I'd put a dress like that with something strappy but I really don't want bare legs.

I had been considering these but wasn't sure I'd be able to walk in them. And realise they are a bit beyond budget.

Why don't you order hte office ones and see what they look like ?

cornsilkwearscorsets · 23/11/2009 21:58

Prefer the LK Bennett shoes. Don't like the office ones at all.

BonjourIvresse · 23/11/2009 22:09

pewter shoes are great, they go with so many things.

feedthegoat · 24/11/2009 21:21

Yes, they are lovely Wheelybug but sadly out of my price range. I need something similar just cheaper, isn't it always the way?

The wedding is in Ireland so with new dresses, gifts, ferries and hotels I've got no choice but to stay in budget I'm afraid!

goat, what size are your feet?

feedthegoat · 24/11/2009 21:36

I'm a size 6.

I have a pair of silver/pewter wedge closed-toe t-bar shoes which I can't wear because they're a small 41 or large 40 (can't remember). I love them but have only worn them once. The wedge is quite delicate/slim. I'm not sure that they will go with that dress though. If I can I'll post a picture on a profile in next day or so.

Anyhow, since you're a City fan and all [you are, right?], if you like them you can have them for nowt.

feedthegoat · 24/11/2009 21:49

That is a very generous offer WilfSell, thankyou.

I am indeed a city fan. Dh is going on wednesday night when I'll unfortunately be on swimming lesson and bedtime duty!

If you don't like em though, don't be shy. Just say they're shit. I won't be offended.

Give me a day or so to find them remember how to post a photo...

Wheelybug · 25/11/2009 11:23

Goat - I have ordered the office ones as I think they'll go with my outfit (tis not a floaty number) so I can report back when they arrive if you like and give you more idea of what they're like.

feedthegoat · 26/11/2009 19:24

That would be great Wheelybug, thanks.

That dress is gorgeous and the shoes would be ok imo

Wheelybug · 26/11/2009 20:49

Right, shoes have arrived.

I'm undecided. Only had a quick try on as was dashing out but the hidden platform in the toe bit does make them a bit clompy. I think they are probably quite funky in some ways but they might be too funky for me .

Haven't yet tried on properly or with dress ... ooh I don't know what to say.

What I would say though is office are great at returns. I bought a pair of boots on line recently. Returned them to the shop and got the refund v. quickly into my account. So, you only have the postage cost to lose !

If I think more about them once I've tried on properly then I'll post some more ! I may aslo go and try the LKB shoes too although am trying to resist.

feedthegoat · 26/11/2009 21:08

Funky sounds good Wheelybug. Okay, now I'm not daft enough to believe that the dress I've got for the wedding is funky but my annual clothing budget is not huge so I have to have maximum use out of them. To be honest, if I get new shoes they are going to be my christmas present from Dh.

I did try these on but ruled them out for being too bright and shiny. I did really like the shape of them though and they do look a similar shape to the Office ones. I might go and try them on again with a more critical approach and then order the others if I do like the style!

I ordered these a couple of weeks ago and thought they were gorgeous - unfortunatley my trotters and lack of experience in shoes with a heel meant they were no good for me.

I know they are open toed, but they are cool and do have purple bits too.

feedthegoat · 26/11/2009 21:53

I think that might be a step too funky for the occasion ScottishBoris . They'd be fantastic for a party though. Just not a friends wedding where I'm trying to project demure enough for any possible aging relative whilst trying to avoid looking like one of the Grannys!
