Dress, shoes & clutch conundrum - come and opine please

and make some suggestions please....

friends' joint 40th this w/e. Went out this morning and bought the following

this red dress

this clutch bag

these shoes in black

Dress - I am happy with so is the bit that will stay, even though it's miles from what I would normally choose - it's RED fgs!!!

Shoes - I tried on various in M&S (didnt want to spend too much as hardly ever wear party shoes) but most were too high/uncomfortable - 9cm heel is my absolute max. But they only had them in a size 4 and having got them home I think they are too small - I need a 4.5 and they are out of stock online. I could get them in the navy instead but then the bag won't match will it?

Bag - Is lovely no but do you think it goes with the dress?

If I change the shoes to the navy pair the bag will look wrong won't it ? I really need a navy suede clutch.

Alternatively, should I stick with the jigsaw clutch and get these black carvela shoes? They are a bit more than I wanted to spend but Carvela usually fit me really well and are quite comfy. Really really can't do uncomfortable shoes anymore, not even for a party.

I am a bit of a numpty when it comes to putting it all together, especially the shoes....Also style gurus what sort of jewellery would you wear with this dress?

Oh and I was going to wear black opaques - navy shoes are going to stuff that up aren't they?

Whew, sorry for rambling, can someone help me sort through it please?

OK - you love the dress and bag and they're cool so keep them both.

I don't like either shoes - will look for some others.

I'd go jewellery wise perhaps for a statment cuff type bracelet or dramatic ear rings.

DanDruff · 23/11/2009 20:19

no necklace
some huge balck jet earrings

traceybath · 23/11/2009 20:20

What about shoe boots.

They'd go well with your dress I think.

eshermummy · 23/11/2009 20:23

ooooh thank you.
Really need help on the shoe front - am just really out of practice with wearing heels so anything too high or too narrow just cripples me these days.

Also I had been deliberately avoiding any peep-toe or more sandally action because the party is in central London, god knows how close we'll be able to park so there could be a bit of walking to be done, most likely in the p-ing rain!!!
Secondly I wanted to wear black opaques and I know everyone says it is now ok to wear tights and open toes shoes but I am still a bit

love the clutch very fendi

agree with danDruff about no necklace....I probably wouldn't have anything other than black shoes and some opaques

make it all about the dress

Ronaldinhio · 23/11/2009 20:25

like those shoe boots...

eshermummy · 23/11/2009 20:34

hmmm shoe boots - I actually have last year's M&S black suede shoe boots - a bit like these but without the studs. I never wear them coz they are so darned uncomfortable but maybe I will try and revisit with the addition of those party feet inserty things?

i liek the black marks ones too - had em last year - v comfy but NOT THIS year

cornsilkwearscorsets · 23/11/2009 21:56

I like the carvella shoes. Is that dress above the knee?

eshermummy · 23/11/2009 22:13

tis quite short, hence the need for opaques.
I'm only 5'3" and it's a good 2 inches above my knees!!
