Can a pencil skirt ever look good on a pear?

Pear shape rather than the fruit I have fabulous top I want to find a skirt to go with and I'm thinking of a longish black pencil skirt, but am a bit of a pear (maybe an hourglass, I do have big boobs but I am more distracted by the size of my thighs ). Size 12-14, about 5.7 if that makes a difference

I think a pencil skirt particularly suits a pear/hourglass shape.

MaryBS · 23/11/2009 19:59

Alternatively a tulip skirt - more flattering IMHO

I think a pear shape is ideally suited to show off a pencil skirt. Nipped in waist, curvy bottom.

SausageRocket · 23/11/2009 20:06

was just about to say that pencil skirts were made for curvy pears

Sooo good so the consensus is a yes I will start the hunt tomorrow

Marilyn Monroe looked pretty good in them . I always think that when I get annoyed with my pear shape.

ZZMum · 23/11/2009 20:17

I think so the only issue being fit as most pears (ie me!) have a waist 2 sizes smaller than hips so need to make sure it fits well and you are not left with gape.. dressmakers needed here!

badietbuddy · 23/11/2009 20:17

Tsarchasm, I'm actually looking for an outfit for a rock n roll night and am taking Marilyn as the inspiration I have a fabby scoop neck fitted blouse, and am going to tie a little scarf around my neck

I am so excited Think this but fatter My top is white and grey so not sure wether to go with a black or grey skirt?

Black or a dark grey would be my preference. Look for lots of stretch in the skirt to make it cling with a bit of stretch. And some magic pants to keep everything in place And killer heels of course!

Ooh I want one now!

Well I popped to primark this morning and got a fab, very dark charcoaly, past the knee stretchy one for the princely sum of three quid I cannot wait, am now on the hunt for black peeptoes if anyone has suggestions?
