Yesterday I foolishly and gratuitously wore one of those hold you in underwear things. After seven hours I was very uncomfortable and removed it and had a tummy ache, today I have terrible backache.

It's all Gok's fault, he inspired me. NEVER again. Never. It was utterly unnecessary, didn't make me look any slimmer (though did give me a more "defined" silhoutte) and really has made me feel dreadful, am hoping this pain will go soon. How long can I expect it to go on?

Presumably until your internal organs have redistributed themselves properly?

hmmm never had next-day backache

I did have next day mortification, as the previous day had decided tummy ache was too much, whipped said underwear into my bag and forgotten. So, at a party, while pulling out a toy to amuse DD out came a ginormous pair of knickers

It should pass - they are evil cycling shorts and I only wear them about once a year.

HerBeatitude · 21/11/2009 10:08

I can't believe some women wear them every day. There was a thread on here recently where someone scoffed at the idea of them being bad for you, but blimey, I've still got the pain a bit (not as bad now though) and it's 3 days later. How can that not be bad?

I know what you mean. I find the same thing with those big wide stretchy belts that Gok always puts round people. They give me tummy ache and if put higher ie. under my boobs, they set off my asthma as I can't breathe properly!

My Spanx are relatively comfy though. I have some tit to thigh ones that are more like tight tights. Keep you warm in the winter too...

SpodgeMcBiscuit · 21/11/2009 12:30

Ooooh I couldn't live without my control pants! I'm slim but with the dreaded mummy tummy giggly flap. I accept I should be all girl power and this body brought my son into the world etc, but jeans are not forgiving. I do wear a pair whenever I'm out and about.

I'm size 8-10 and I get mine in a size ten, I've never had any pain with them. Maybe it's like bras, which ones fit nicely depends on shape not just size. Maybe try a few brands or sizes?

ruffletheanimal · 21/11/2009 14:00

agree with minko and spodge; spanx ones are much more comfy for me than other ones ive tried. and get them slightly bigger for extra comfort.
not that i wear them every day... mostly for the odd eve out.

bigTillyMint · 21/11/2009 14:49

How tight are they? The ones I have aren't at all uncomfortable - perhaps they don't hold me in all that much, but they give a much smoother silhouette

I don't wear them much though - did you have a big meal with them on?

CybilLiberty · 21/11/2009 14:51

Just do a big fart, you'll feel much better.
