Might have the chance to leave the kids with a relative for 5 days.

A seaplane to your resort on the Maldives.

New Orleans - Jazz Fest is then I think.

Morocco? Essaouira is amazing...

CocoK · 18/11/2009 20:02

Lucky you! Sardinia is lovely - but a bit hit and miss regarding how hot it can be in May. Also depends what you want - beach/sightseeing, etc. Liguria in Italy is beautiful and romantic - above Tuscany on map. The town St. Margherita is gorgeous and easy to get to from Genova and the whole coastline (Cinque Terre) is gorgeous.

Ischia, the island next to Capri, is stunning (fly to Naples & get boat across). Cyprus was roasting 1st week in June last year. Longer haul Japan-I'm 33 but will be spending my 40th there.

H took me to Capri for my 40th this May. We were there for a week. It was one of the most fantastic places I have ever been. Our hotel was beautiful and the staff were so accommodating and lovely. We went on boat trips to Sorrento and Naples whilst we were there.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it-or go again!

Japan was my first choice too. Just think it might be too far,all told with 5 days.

80, Morocco was my second choice for ages but DH is worried about safety at the moment, although doesnt appear high risk at all.

Only got 5 days. Would I get as far as the Maldives?

Cocok we went to sardinia. Spectacular place though, I agree especially the costa smeralda.

Capri hmm? Is it warm enough in May?

I have this dream that DH and I could lie on the beach with a gin and tonic in hand, sunglasses on reading a book.
No childwatching shifts, no hauling half drowned toddlers out of the sea, no bickering teenagers and sand being flicked over us constantly and being reprimanded by hotel staff for noisy kids..
I would like to be able to buy myself an icecream without forking out £25 for 5 more.

Ohh I cannot wait. It could be Scarborough for all I mind as long as we are alone.

monkeysmama · 19/11/2009 20:46

I indulged in some fantasy travel this afternoon & had a quick Internet surf for you & Dubai looks like the safest bet for sun & your other requirements. There are some good offers out there too. Let us know where you end up choosing! Now back to find my own
holiday, how hard can it be to book a break in January in the sun somewhere child friendly...?!

chocolateshoes · 19/11/2009 20:48

ohhhhhhhhhhh I'm envious! Mine's in jan & no childcare....where do I start?? Plus can't take time off work as I'm a teacher so its for a weekend only. Let us know where you book you lucky thing!
