Help! First post and first night out in a long time...!

Hi

This is my first post, so hello...!

Be really grateful if you could give me some fashion advice. I am a mummy of 3, and am going on my first night out with the girls at the weekend in a long time in the city. I live in blue jeans most of the time, and do have some nice ones that I could dress up with heels and a nice top, would like to look fashionable but smart/casual. Any suggestions other than jeans would be great though!

I am a size 14, about 5'6 and early 30's. Shops that I like are Zara, Whistles, Topshop, Gap, Warehouse, so that kind of thing. Just haven't got a clue what to put together! Not keen on leggings due to big thighs/calves...

Thanks for your advice x

Hi, I'm afraid i can't give any advice as i'm in a similar position to you (live in jeans and rarely go for nights out!), but thought i'd bump for you in case anyone else can help. Good luck!

Budget?

Good bits? i.e waist/shoulders etc

Anything you would absolutely NOT wear?

mummy777 · 17/11/2009 12:32

Budget is pretty flexible within reason. Would pay up to £70ish for a really nice top for example, although cheap-ish is fine too! Look forward to hearing some suggestions...I am hopeless at picking nice things that are a bit different from what I normally wear. Tend to just head for knitted things and jeans when I'm at the shops.
Only no-no's are leggings, I think!

Thanks again for your help.

Forgot, good bits - waist, shoulders - top half all ok really, so I suppose something that camoflages my bottom and legs a bit. Thanks!

Well Whistles, Zara and Warehouse definitely do some nice going out tops-as does Monsoon. I have bought a few tunics from there to wear over jeans. I also got a lovely purple/navy/pink silk tunic top from East the other day. It is really flattering and lovely with dark blue jeans and shoe boots.

Why don't you have a browse online at the stores you like and maybe order a few things you like for fit? You can send back what you don't want. They could be there by Thurs-Fri. If you don't like that idea, browsing online gives you a plan for when you hit the shops.

Good luck!

Thanks! Really like to first asos one. Do you think it would look good with black straight leg jeans and shoe boots? Thanks.

Do you mean the Ted Baker one - it is goregous isn't it?

Think it would look good with black or indigo jeans and shoe boots or killer heels

Clure · 17/11/2009 19:24

its a lovely top. Nice black straight jeans - topshop marthas or river island got some lovely black skinnies in.
shoe boots

mummy777 · 17/11/2009 20:08

Yes! The Ted Baker one. Just re-read my last post and realised it doesn't make sense. Was typing with baby on my knee!

Looks lovely, only worry is that the tie bit above the waist reminds me of pregnancy tops slightly... What do you think? Thanks.

Having looked at the 'catwalk' video bit, I dont think so (although I guess she is a skinny model ...)
