Primark virgin

I wandered into Primark the other day for the first time, but couldn't find anything by Primark, it was all a concession called 'Atmosphere' or some other such name...? It all looked horrible anyway. I can't understand the popularity. Have I missed something?

I think "atmosphere' is the Primark label ... I've never bought anything from Primark that actually said Primark. All Atmosphere and Denim & Co I think??

It's very hit and miss. Lots of tat, the occasional gem.

I'm sure I've seen 'Atmosphere' and 'Denim and Co' in places like Peacocks too? It's very clever of Primark. Whereever I go nowadays, I seem to see people with huge Primark carrier bags (often 3 or more) stuffed full of something. The other day at the supermarket I saw a woman open her car boot to stow her shopping and her boot was filled with Primark carrier bags.

There's lots of crap in Primark but it's good for knickers, PJ's and basics like tops/jeans. I have found that the sizes are small though and like most cheap clothes are definitely better for the smaller woman.

Their tights are good.

Last year i got a pair of long suede look boots that I get compliments on whenever I wear them. they were only £15.

there is a helluva lot of shite in there though.

Atmosphere is Primark own brand. Treat Primark as a jumble sale, and you can find brilliant stuff. Expect it to be a pleasant shopping experience and you'll be disappointed.

PuppyMonkey · 16/11/2009 11:04

All complete shite imho.

Primark is remarkably good for kids clothes. I have found them to be good quality, sometimes as good/better than much more expensive clothes.

The thing with Primark is you are not paying for expensive presentation/marketing so buying cheap Primark is often better quality than cheap from a more expensive store.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 16/11/2009 11:08

Only venture in if you are in a pleasant mood and have the time to rummage. I like the jeans and the basic stuff oh and accessories!
I fancy a trip to primark now, we dont have one in our town, its a shame because childrenswear is quite good.

lucykate · 16/11/2009 11:15

primark is good for basics only. dd has a cheap velour track suit, ideal to keep at school to wear when they do outdoors pe (which they do at least once a week, come rain or shine), she needed something that it didn't matter if it gets all muddy or lost, and the odd t-shirt. my t-shirt i do the housework in came from primark

ladymarian · 16/11/2009 14:20

Their kids stuff is pretty good. I buy pyjamas, socks and tights for dd in there and they are all good quality (in my experience) and much cheaper than elsewhere. I have bought some clothes there for her too but it depends on your taste. Some of it looks really cheap and nasty.

As for womenswear its a bit of a mixed bag. I have a great parka out of there that was cheap but is great. Accessories like scarves and belts are worth a look.
