If you have long hair but have to wear it up for work, what are the alternatives to having a pony tail ALL the time?

I work in a hospital. Full time too.

I have long hair now and have to wear it up for infection control reasons.

So EVERYDAY i wear a pony tail.

I'm so bored of it but like having my hair long. It looks nice when its down at the weekend.

What should i do with it?

Have tried twisting it up and clipping it at the back but it falls out unless i put it in a pony tail first, then there's a hair band showing. is that ok or does it look a bit crap?

I do a French plait and tuck it under back into the hair.
A bu.
A French pleat.

Your hair needs to be mid-length thoguh for these to work best.

French pleats fall out too. My hair is quite straight and heavy.

My hair isn't long enough for a proper neat bun, so it get's a bit spiky. Actually looks ok like that i suppose.

do you use hairspray too keep a french plait up?

You could do.
Don't use conditioner-makes it slippery.

I twist mine into a messy bun at the back with a nice hair band or scrunchie (so it doesn't matter if it shows), I think sticky out bits look fine if it's intentional. I also wear it in two plaits (french plaits - is that where the plait starts on the scalp, not just hanging down? Like that) but I don't actually have to look smart, it's just to keep it out of my face.
