Celebrity perfumes - any good?

Sorry if this has been done to death already. I only ask as I know they are a bit cheaper than 'designer' brands (not because I am some sad celebrity-worshipper). Lots of people seem to like SJP 'Lovely'. Are any of the others any good? Or are the luxury brands worth a few extra £££s?

I have a confession - my standard perfume is Notes by Celine Dion. There. A shop assistant had it on (this was a bog-standard chemist), I really liked it and asked what it was, and, yup. Celine Dion.

I must admit I do like J-Lo Glow. And Halle Berry's is nice too

KnitterInTheNW · 13/11/2009 21:56

Reese Witherspoon's in bloom is lovely.

MaggiePie · 14/11/2009 19:45

Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker is disgusting.

Not just 'not my cup of tea' it was horrible. I can't put into words how rancid it was.

Why would anybody create that scent, and then call it Lovely???

MaggiePie · 14/11/2009 19:46

I like Shine Saltire, is it the same as Glow. I never see glow anymore, but I got a set of shine scent and shower gel for 10 euro and it's a lovely smell. Kind of like skin but nicer. Hard to explain. a tiny bit sexy but not much. ok for day or evening.

MaggiePie · 14/11/2009 19:47

I'll have a look out for celine dion's and Reese W's.

NetMumsAreFab · 14/11/2009 19:48

I quite like J Lo Live.
It can a be bit sweet though.

BitOfFun · 14/11/2009 19:49

A lot of them are very sweet for my taste. I think M&S and Next do some lovely inexpensive Eau de Toilettes. And Undiscovered at LaSenza is really nice, with lots of bang for your buck, as Auntie Gok would say

GiraffeAHolic · 14/11/2009 19:49

I have Stella McCartney's Peony, I love it and people often ask me what it is. (I'm guessing that's a good thing )

MaggiePie · 14/11/2009 19:51

Yes, but she doesn't count as a sleb scent, that's a designer's difusion. No different from Dolce ^ Gabanna.

BitOfFun · 14/11/2009 20:01

Reese W? Who? Didn't she stab her ex-husband?

BitOfFun · 14/11/2009 21:03

Oh c'mon guys!!

You are supposed to say "Witherspoon?"

And I say "No, with a knife"

Boom boom

mummytowillow · 14/11/2009 22:07

I think I should have name changed for this one but Coleen's is quite nice, I haven't got it but my friends 12 year old daughter has and it smells lovely!

Can't believe I've admitted that

Oh and most of J Lo's are lovely!

pinkmagic1 · 14/11/2009 22:14

Don't like to admit it but I love 'Britney Spears Fantasy!' Its lovely and I always get lots of compliments when wearing it. Its cheap too, always a bonus!

cocolepew · 14/11/2009 22:16

JLO Glow is nice.

JANEITEisntErudite · 14/11/2009 22:18

DD likes the Kate Moss one. I've bought her the new KM Vintage one for Christmas. As far as they go, it's not bad. Most of them are hideously sweet and synthetic smelling.

CDMforever · 14/11/2009 22:34

LOVE Reese Witherspoon's In Bloom and SJP's Lovely.
