If you want a traditional school style satchel the Cambridge Satchel Company are very good. I bought my 17 year old DD a large brown one for her birthday (Alexa Chung is her style idol!!). Lovely leather, £64.99 and lovely customer service.

like this?

too dark?

momijigari · 11/11/2009 23:07

lovely but can't find it elsewhere.

aarghhelp · 12/11/2009 03:02

Ah. I remember a paper or magazine linking to a tan satchel by "Very" for £50, and saying that it was very Alexa Chung. I thought hmm, nice bag, but googling now I cannot get on to the Very site. Apparently Very is just the new name for Littlewoods though which disappointed me a bit. I would go looking in TKMaxx if I were you!

seeyounexttues · 12/11/2009 10:46

I've found the one on Very here. It's leather and only £25 atm

dalek · 12/11/2009 19:38

oh dear ladies - need to stop looking at S and B - just bought this satchel in black

dalek · 13/11/2009 16:11

Well - I'm very impressed ordered at 7.15pm last night - it's just been delivered!

AnnaSui · 13/11/2009 16:34

Seeyounext, I bought that very bag in black from Littlewoods. iT looked stiff and starchy the first week. When i took it out of packaging it was bigger and bulkier than i was expecting, but now I'm really pleased with it. I had to take it to a cobbler and get extra holes put in the strap but that was easy and he did it for free!

Mine was 40 euro, but even so, can't believe it. Cheap spacious leather bag and I can fit everything in it.

seeyounexttues · 13/11/2009 18:34

I'm really tempted Anna, need a new bag like a hole in the head, but it looks lovely, it's £24 at littlewood, but only £20 at Very. mmm wonder if that code that was floating around still works, I've already used it at littlewoods, might give it a go at Very.

Now, just have to decide which colour, I really like both, and know which ever I choose I'll wish I bought the other lol

MaggiePie · 13/11/2009 19:38

Treat yourself, it's one of those rare items that looks a lot more expensive than it actually was, instead of the other way 'round!

I've bought bags from these:

red direct
Peony & Moore
not on the high street.com
tkmaxx

The Cambridge satchels are lovely, but the order time is another story. Talk about watching paint dry......... 30 days seems to be the minimum and getting them to speed up is met by pedantry geared to frustrate even the most patient of souls......One of you budding entrepreneurs needs to set up a rival company- source from China and deliver within five days - grab some of the £5m market share, but do it much better.

pootle123 · 16/04/2012 13:20

Have you tried Scaramanga www.scaramangashop.co.uk/
I got a gorgeous satchel there. Much cheaper and speedier delivery than Cambridge.
