I'm going for an overnight with a friend next week.

What lovely, fabulous shops should we frequent?

Normal high street shops in the main street but nip off down the alleyways to find lots of quirky lovely independent shops. Where are you staying?

Are these alleyways of which you speak round the Milsom place/quarter/bit?

Yes that's very central. I think Milsom street is where Jamie's restaurant is!

Ooooh, now there's a thought....

Not been there myself but my friend has, said it was very nice, very reasonable! Italian I believe, ooh enjoy yourself

in my defence, my dh's 2nd cousin used to own one of them. I've only been to Bath a couple of times.

Duo on Milsom Street - boooooooots!

Also worth heading up Walcot Street - London Street - London Road drag. Lots of nice antique / junk shop places, Tim Snells is good. There's a market there on Saturdays too.

And a really nice cheese shop / deli.

And some nice bits in Rossiters (home dept store) - between Broad St and Walcot Loop Road.

I used to Live in Bath, up until about 2 and a half years ago. I do quite miss it. Liz Cox handbag shop at St Margarets Buildings just off Brock Street, which is around the corner from the Royal Crescent.

Lunch at Demuths www.demuths.co.uk or Jamies (tis nice but you have to queue frequently) or the nice little Italian restaurant called Martinis on George street

oh Yes prey is great, if they are still there, and great shop also called bloom, sells jewellery and designer knick knacks like Paul Smith stuff.

Have a 2hr session at the Spa

yes, Prey is lovely... there's also a nice vintage-style clothes shop along the street from it (George St).

Although not exclusive to Bath, I love Vinegar Hill on Milsom St. You should visit Rossiters which is the local department store- opposite Cath Kidston in Broad St.

Jamies is at Shires Yard, which is off Milsom street, ....ooh and just remembered Fab French cafe called cafe Renee does pastries and coffee and seating outside great for early morning croissant, thats in Shires Yard as well, ....oooh and there is Vom Fass where you can get liqueurs, or flavoured oils and vinegars put into fancy bottles. I like the chocolate orange one.

Oh hell I think I need a visit! Been too long.

This is fantastic.

We're going to try the spa I think (if we can cram it in between shops and buns).

LTEC is right about Mee and Prey.

If you're walking down from the Queensberry into town you'll go past Toast and Mee.

Nice new coffee shop recently opened called Jika Jika just opposite Prey.

Also a shop on the same road called Instant Vintage which has some nice bits in it and reasonable.

Head down Milsom Street for Reiss, Comptoir and all the usuals.

On old bond st you've got space nk and a large Jigsaw, LK Bennett etc. And then round the corner from them the white company.

As you're staying at the Queensberry are you eeating at the Olive Tree? Its very nice.

Jamies is nice for lunch though or the Firehouse Rotisserie which is round the back of Jollys.

There's also a fab kitchens shop and Rossiters is nice for house stuff. And if cheese is your thing the Fine Cheese company is fab and does lovely coffee and cakes too.

At the bottom of town some new shops have opened but mostly new look etc.

I know you have your accommodation sorted but I can recommend a lovely B&B in Bath called The Residence. We've stayed there a few times and had a lovely time

There is also the main Duo Boots shop in Bath.

we are off to spa on sunday so might see you in the pool!

Going next Thurs, but will have a bath bun in your honour.

Firehouse looks like a good recommendation too.
