What to wear to a winter wedding

Help!
Have left this far too late but best friends are getting married in 2 weeks. Church wedding (chilly), sit down meal followed by a ceilidh (energetic). Plus will have 8 month DS to entertain although not BF so don't have that dilemma to contend with!
What on earth do I wear?

Sorry forgot to say I'm short (5ft 2in)size 8/10 but have cankles so don't always like getting my legs out!

Well it sounds like trews are your best bet. Could you get a nice pair with a jacket and a partyish top underneath?

And tbh NO ONE will notice your so-called cankles.

Wear a great dress, opaques and cool heels and you will look great

ceb80 · 28/10/2009 11:29

I like the sound of a great dress just no idea what suits anymore (post baby identity crisis!)
You're right with tights, cankles are a lot less obvious

MrsJamin · 28/10/2009 11:46

something involving lovely boots, a dress and nice new sparkly-ish cardy?

ceb80 · 28/10/2009 12:10

Some ideas. this

or this

momijigari · 28/10/2009 12:20

petite

Do you have colour preference?

Budget?

Shoes shouldn't be too hard, once we know colour of dress, just avoid ankle straps!

ceb80 · 28/10/2009 12:20

oooh am liking the 2nd warehouse one! Can just see it with puke on one shoulder and a snail trail of dribble on the other

sequins

momijigari · 28/10/2009 12:24

Patterns make puke and snail trail less noticeable!

But I am sure you could have a patterned scarf that looks glam, but serves as a puke catcher, that dress would be nice for ceilidh dancing.

Am liking the sequins, will check out Karen Millen, not sure we've got one near us.
Thanks for all suggestions, am feeling more inspired now!
