Lace knit tights....how to wear them ?!

I LOVE lace knit tights, bought some great ones from Jonathan Aston, in brown and black, but now I struggle to know how to wear them

If I wear them with a patterned skirt, too much is going on. With plain jeans skirt too tarty somehow.

Also, should they be worn with boots or shoes?

I have tried many combinations, but can´t find a right one.

Knitted dress maybe

tarty depends on heels i would say. worn with flat calf boots you should be fine as long as skirt isn't vv short. i tend to wear them with knee length skirts, wool or cord. although personally i have crochet pattern ones (thicker yarn, fishnetty pattern) rather than actual lace ones.

yeah that's the type i wear, but anything that open i'd def only wear w/knee length skirts, nothing much shorter.

My pc won't let me look at that site...obviously your tights ARE racy

morningpaper · 28/10/2009 08:56

I wear them all the time e.g. with black leather boots and a black velvet knee-length or above-the-knee skirt

It is SLIGHTLY tarty, that's the whole POINT

CybilAviationAuthority · 28/10/2009 08:56

lol strumpet

i also wear with mary jane heels in the summer, cos i hate sheer tights.

CybilAviationAuthority · 28/10/2009 09:02

you wear tights in the summer?

stakethroughtheheartofgold · 28/10/2009 09:04

CybilAviationAuthority · 28/10/2009 09:04

This is how I wore lace tights to a party last Christmas

-opened packet of v expensive lace tights and and put them on
-looked in the mirror exp[ecting to see hyper fashionable goddess like form
-nearly started crying at how fat they made my legs look (this was a big lace print, iyswim)
-pulled off tights in rage and slung them in the corner of the room
-tried my party dress on with black opaque work tights
-in a real mood now because I look like a frump from the 80s
-cry
-sulkily put on trousers instead (my new party dress has still not been worn)
-got very drunk at the party due to all the tights stress and disappointment

Oooh Getorfmoiland, this is what I experienced yesterday, and the reason behind this OP!

Only, as I live in the sunny South, I decided to go for the skirt WITHOUT any tights in the end.

I agree Morningpaper that the idea is to look slightly tarty (I bought them when I was FED UP with my frumpy mummy look of jeans and top).

Am now thinking of ordering THIS DRESS:

www.thewhitecompany.com/productdetails.aspx?id=1000834&itemno=PLCLA

and wear said dress with lace tights and (flat heeled) boots.
