Gap 'warmest' toddler coat. Reviews? Wet look?????

Have you used this coat? Is it as warm as they say? (It still seems quite thin).

Also I can only find the 'wet look'. I really don't like it (it looks like a binliner...). But does that really matter if it keeps him warm (I worry about what others think... even when I know you shouldn't -DS gets so proud of his new clothes I just don't want others to think he looks bad....

Is there anywhere that sells the 'matt' look that was available for the older children? (I'm looking for 18-24 months)

Are you buying it from Ebay? I actually think i have seen this in the shop last winter(or a simliar one) it is really nice, dont worry what others think, as long as you like it

If you want warm and matt, consider a Boden fleece-lined anorak
We've had two of these for DS and loved them. Really very warm, look nice and last well. (Don't buy Boden full price though, you can get lots of discounts - try XNHT to get £10 off a £30 spend, though can't guarantee it's still working)

The trouble is, Vine, I'm not too keen on the wet look business - I love everything else about it. I have ordered and returned 5 different winter coats so far. This is the first coat that actually fits and seems warm enough (he is very short, but with long arms (not a monkey honest!!) and is swamped by many of the coats). sigh

Very tempted by the Boden. Don't know whether to order to try it out and to compare it... Do the sizes come up big or small (Don't know whether to order 18-24 months or 2-3 years)...

Boden come up big, so 18-24mo should be fine.

I find Boden sizing small. My (quite short) 20 mo is in their 2-3 yr coat, and my tiny 3.5yo is in 3-4.

Ds1 has got this one from Boden. Very warm. Looks matt, I think.

You are over-thinking this. It's a child's coat. It needs to fit and keep him warm. Ordering and returning 5 different winter coats for a two-year old? What's that all about then?

Save the difference in time and money, and buy clothes for yourself instead.

My DS has this coat and it doesn't look like a binliner in the flesh (so to speak). It's a really nice coat and is super warm as has a lovely furry lining and lots of great details like double cuffs so the rain can't run in. It's thicker than either of the Boden ones look.

Oh and it isn't at all thin.

Because they didn't fit. (Mostly swamped him), but I haven't been impressed with the clothes in the shops...

So the dilemma was stick with a coat perfect in every way except the look (and I have to look at it a lot - not like trousers etc. that are insignificant), or try another coat and risk the fit being wrong again.

If you had said 2 years ago I would be thinking so carefully I wouldn't have believed you, but as someone who thinks ds should be comfortable above all else, I have put up with no few pointed remarks about how I dress him from a couple of people I always thought were friends... Don't want to give them more ammunition, and while I am not working I don't want to drop friends, so I would rather just ignore it... but as I said rather not give them ammunition. Right my head hurts and it shouldn't!

If it's the one I'm thinking of (can't get the picture to load on the webpage - is it filled with down/feathers, like a quilt?) then they're lovely. Ds had one years ago and we passed it on to his cousin who used it for an age before passing it on to someone else!
It is very, very warm and lovely and light.
But we didn't have a tumble dryer so it was a PITA to dry.

The down should be fine if you have a tumble dryer, gorgeous, which fluffs it all up.

Well we bought it while we were in the US in August and it's been fine so far. The fleece inside is really soft as well. DS is pleased he can wear it now the weather is a little colder.
