Black and brown..

How many of you mix black and brown and in what way? I used to be really anti black and brown together but I have quite a few black coats and brown boots and vice versa. Is it a style faux pas to put together??

I do, but you need to coordinate a bit from head to toe imo. For example, if you're wearing black coat and brown boots, use a brown scarf and brown bag. Generally if your shoes and bag have something in common you should be on the right lines.

Can I also ask about blue in all of this? eg. blue jeans

Can you wear blue and black? Or blue and brown?

I know that one of those is apparently unacceptable (according to previous MN threads but can't remember which)

for me personally:

indigo jeans: okay with black or dark brown (not tan)
lighter jeans - only brown (dark or tan)

I wore brown boots over black leggings the other day and I thought it looked ok personally. No-one fainted in the street or anything, anyway.
