Anyone else finding the 80's revival a nightmare?

Seriously these clothes are not good for my shape (pear)! Everything seems designed to make my bum look massive and cover up my good bits (waist, boobs and shoulders) with baggy tops and shoulder pads.

I seriously hope this fashion season ends soon and they move on from the horror that is/was the 80's.

I have resorted to buying all my clothes on ebay as I just find most stuff in the shops completely hideous atm.

I was trying to find a party dress in Monsoon which always seems to come up trumps and couldn't believe how gross it all is!

Imagine what it was like going through a whole decade of it.

Seriously, I wish I hadn't had to spend crucial years of my youth dressed in such hideously unflattering clothes.

The only good thing about the current revival, is that the horror is speeded up and condensed into a few months.

Hate hate hate 80s clothes. 'Decade that style forgot' so why revisit???? Can't wait 'til it's over (then all the fashion mags can say how horrid it was..

Scary - I'm dressed better, for sure.

And, do you know, that really annoys me!!!! I keep thinking that I was victimised by the fashion of the day. If I had the fashion of now + the youth of yore -- I think I'd have had a lot of tales to embarrass the children with.

I was trying to find a dress the other week for a wedding.

They were hideous puffy shouldered, shapeless stupidly short things that made me (fat adn shapeless anyway) look like a sack full of wombles I hate shopping anyway and the 80s was bad enough originally.

I eventually found a lovely dress by accident in the sale at evans (e.g. last seasons style). It is fab so I am happy And I also got a shirt dress thing that is stupidly short but that I wear over slim fitting jeans. BUt it took hoooooooouuurrrrrrsssss. I was nearly in tears by the end (did I mention how much I HATE clothes shopping?).

Seriously I saw someone my size wearing one of tiny dresses with thick tights and knee boots and it did Not Look Good.

It's not just the cut of them that is so bad but the colours

As you rightly point out, surely not a look anyone would consciously aim for.

80's fashion was crap first time round, no way would i do that to myself for a second time.

The 80s revival is horrid. I am amazed it has gone on so long. Lack of imagination, I think.

I thought one of the first rules of fashion (yeah, like I'M an expert! ) is that if you remember wearing it first time round, for god's sake steer clear when it comes back in fashion. Or if you're going to do it, don't buy the full-on high fashion stuff - just get items that have a hint of the retro about them.

I just can't see me doing the whole shoulder pad thing when I've done it all before 20 years ago in my teens. Was out at the weekend and I nearly spat my vodka out when I saw a group of young trendy types come in the bar wearing full-blown Joan Collins shoulder pads, and others in sequinned 80s colour dresses. It just looks daft to me, with a capital D.
