DD (aged 2.7) invited to first 'proper party'. What to wear??

DD1 has been invited to her first party that is not one of our already known friends.
So lots of little girls from nursery will be there. I don't know any of the other little girls or their mums and (sorry a bit anally) am not sure what she should wear. Do little girls wear 'silky party dresses or dresses that are a bit smartish or something else.

I do like a cord pinafore really and may buy one but DH says she should look nice and it wouldn't be partyish enough.

Sorry I really am making too much of this but .. help

Ah, bless her. I used to dress DD depending what the party was going to be. So soft play would be leggings and pretty top, maybe a dress for something less active. Now she is older (6) I pretty much let her choose, so she is usually completely overdressed. I would say there is no hard and fast rule, but I would be tempted to go for whats comfy rather than a over fancy dress. Hope she has fun

By the way, both those outfits you linked are lovely. But then I am not a silky dress sort so would always go for something like you have chosen.

it will be fine and until she is old enough to demand polyester tat I'd keep putting her in adorable little outfits!

i find that fewer and fewer girls wear the really fancy party dresses, and it's all more casual ( leggings, tops, jeans, skirts) fancy party dresses seem a bit ott

Thanks , I really don't feel she is not a silky dress sort either unless it was a really posh do.
Its not a soft play party otherwise I would go for leggings and a nice top but in a room in the building where her nursery is. I thought if I bought one nice dress it would do for any christmas parties too
