Have had eyebrows, top lip (cringe) and chin (mega cringe) done today and have to say looks good.

But am I now attached to this attempt not to be velcroed to DH's beard for the rest of my days?

Fruit - that's so not fair!

megcleary · 13/10/2009 20:00

Damn you Norfolk

wonder will DH move....................

£4 for eyebrows here. I thinks its great, very little pain and you don't get left with big red eyebrows for hours after.

megcleary · 13/10/2009 20:38

my eye brows would vie with Liam Gallaghers though usually

I get eyebrows, lip and chin done for 7 quid They do a marvellous job too. It's a bit of a conveyor belt system and they aren't very friendly and yes it hurts, a lot but soooo worth it

Katymac · 13/10/2009 21:43

I agree know what you mean about Norfolk

womma · 13/10/2009 21:59

For top lip you could try this: Epicare

I wouldn't try eyebrows with it though

TracyK · 13/10/2009 22:13

Wee asian places round here do it too - £3 if you go regularly.

Take a brufen or paracetemol before you get it done.
It's amazing.

rightsaidfred · 13/10/2009 22:30

Fruitbatlings -don't suppose you feel like sharing the details of your place do you? I am in SW London too

Bleh · 13/10/2009 22:39

Yes fruitbat, reveal your cheap threading sources. There's a brow bar in HoFraser that now charges £17 for eyebrows! Rip off! (he he he).

colditz · 13/10/2009 22:59

Just tried it myself

Was pisseasy. Am so pleased I will never bother with tweezers again.

Lotkinsgonecurly · 13/10/2009 23:05

it is so painful. Had it done with dc's and dh watching for the last bit. I ended up crying. Person doing it wouldn't let me just have eyebrows done had to have top lip and chin done. Clearly am hairy monster, whose face swelled up for a good few hours afterwards..ow

Fruitbatlings · 14/10/2009 09:44

hmmmm, what's it worth?........

rightsaidfred · 14/10/2009 10:26

Pretty please.....?
£20 for eyebrows at the Aveda salon in Wimbledon and I don't trust them after they made a right hash of my hair. Actually, I don't mind if it's not super cheap.... I just don't want to look like a freak!

penona · 14/10/2009 10:32

I love threading. Miles better than waxing, less painful and better result.

I go to the lady in Debenhams in Wimbledon (who is my fave of all the Wim threaders), charges £10 for eyebrows. £20 in Aveda is waaaay too much!

I used to go to a place called Sajna (? I think) just near Tooting Broadway station. It was about £3 for eyebrows, you took a ticket like at a deli counter and waited to be called. V little english spoken but v efficient and cheap. Sadly don't live near there now, so by the time have paid for me tube fare is as much as Debenhams!!

Bleh · 14/10/2009 10:55

Does anyone happen to know anywhere around Edgware Road way? I imagine there's a few, the question is, how to find them.

MichKit · 14/10/2009 11:16

Used to get it done at Sabiha's in Manchester, for about 6 quid for eyebrows and upper lip (on Rushholme) They do a student discount.

Moved to Liverpool and now just get mine waxed at Voodou, lovely service and Suzanne who's thier therapist is efficient and very nice. If I feel like a sharper line on the brows I go to the Debenhams in Liverpool, but I don't like the conveyor belt feel and the fact that its all done on the shop floor. Its £10 though, so not cheap.

But that said, I'd find anywhere here expensive as I used to get eyebrows and upper lip done for 20p in India :-)

Fruitbatlings · 14/10/2009 13:55

Oh go on then (hopeless at keeping secrets)

It's in Tooting, a place called Sajna. Really cheap for everything. I get half leg and bikini wax plus threading (eyebrows, lip and chin) for £27!
It's always really busy. You don't have to book, you can just show up, take a ticket and wait you turn. I usually book though.

Child friendly too (so don't go if you want peace and quite!). I've never had my hair done though, a friend had hers done there and they made a mess of it. Otherwise it's fab!

I'll see if I can find a website....

Fruitbatlings · 14/10/2009 13:56

Says "website under construction" but here are the details

nikki1978 · 14/10/2009 14:29

I was not impressed tbh. But then I had it done by some asian women who has set up a stall in the middle of a shopping centre and were charging £5 so don't know how dodgy they were

I found it more painful than waxing and the shape was very odd (bit straight line looking if that makes sense!). Plus they made one thinner than the other so was not impressed. Will stick to waxing methinks.

penona · 14/10/2009 14:45

Alot depends on the threader I think.

fruitbatlings that is the place I used to go to! Last went when 7 mths pg with twins, was only white, pg woman there and got stared at by all the little kids waiting for their mums. I did look quite bizarre I guess. Is sadly too far to go now!

Lulumama · 14/10/2009 14:48

Michkit,i had mine done in the debenhams in liverpool, and although my brows looked absolutely amazing and the shape was the best ever, the pain was unbelievable.i had to do childbirth breathing to get through it and i cried . and i am someone who once fractured two fingers, sat through dinner, drove kids home and then put them to bed and then and only then bandaged up my fingers and took a paracetomal !!! i could never have my brows threaded again , it was torture !!

MichKit · 14/10/2009 22:25

Lulumama, which therapist did you have? The older (Lebanese, Middle-Eastern maybe) woman is much better than the others. And yeah, I do agree threading is way more painful than waxing. Do try Voodou for waxing though, Suzanne's fab, and gives you a lovely shape [and no, I am not her ]

Lulumama · 15/10/2009 16:26

younger, possibly eastern european girl? as i say they were fabulous, but god the PPPAAAAAIN !! where is voudou?

MichKit · 15/10/2009 18:07

Lulumama, its right on the top of Bold Street. There's 2, the one I go to is the one closest to the Soul Cafe.
