Am I such a freak that no jeans fit me?

I'm 5"8" and 10 stone 5. Quite pear shaped with a smallish waist and big bum and thighs.

It's been many years since I found any trousers or jeans to fit.
Size 12 are too tight on hips. Size 14 all gape by 6" at the waist.

I never used to have this problem and my weight and shape has not changed much in 20 years so I guess they just make them different.
I've tried (what seems like every pair ) in
Next
M&S
Tesco
Asda
Wallis
BHS
etc. etc.
I don't live near a big shopping centre so it has to be chain stores. I don't mind shopping on line but in this case they all seem to have to go back....
Today I was raking some old clothes out and I have some ancient jeans from Matalan that fit perfectly. Their current stock doesn't though. I know because I tried on 7 pairs this morning.

How much would you be prepared to pay for jeans?

Why don't you find a local tailor or seamstress and get copies made of your Matalan jeans.

I'm similar. Have giant hipbones but a smallish waist and short-ish legs (even tho I'm quite tall)

Gap is great for me as they have so many different styles in different leg lengths and the sizes are reliable.

Also difficult for me - big hips and thighs but smaller waist, very hard to find jeans that fit, that aren't too expensive.

I've found a decent pair in C & A, for 35 euros, so not too expensive. I've still had to adjust them - I've taken them up an inch and I need a belt for them as well.

I don't want to spend a fortune but I do want need several pairs of jeans and trousers.
Gap that's an idea. I think the nearest is about 50 miles away but I might have a trip.
Do they have C&A in Britain?

Have you tried New Look? I find their boot cut ones reasonably generous on the legs & bum.

Yes I am in New Look and they do a good rise, sort of hippy but without muffin.

I'm 5'9 with a similar body shape. I have found jeans joy in French Connection, and Uniqlo. French Connection are £££ but have fab sales - my last pair was £27 down from £75.

I'm a similar shape and height to you and I've just found some that fit really well-from Boden of all places. I'e got their straight leg ones and they are a really good fit for me. I got them when they were doing that deal of the day thing so they were cheaper than they are now, worth looking out for discount codes if you do get them.

French connection used to fit me well but don't any more. I haven't changed shape in that time either. Oasis used to be good too but I haven't tried them for a while. River island are worth a look too.

Similar shape here... I found Gap's "curvy" jeans work well- the waist is cut smaller than hips/ bottom. Don't know if they still do them...

Yep, I also have a big bum, big thighs and a small waist and I shop in Gap. I like the long and lean ones (dunno if they still even do them!) as they help balance out my big thighs and they don't gape much. They are expensive though.

The best jeans IME are Seven for All Mankind. very expensive but worth it as they fit perfectly and feel lovely. Maybe you could try a few on then see if you can find the same on Ebay? Might be a problem if you don't live near a shopping centre though

I sound like a similar shape, and I find Gap's long and lean jeans in a UK 10 (I think) generally fit, whereas I'm really a 12 with a slightly smaller waist.

yes i have hula regular boot cut. Ten pounds a pair. Best two pairs of jeans I have ever ought -- wish I'd bought five pairs.

IMO the hula stuff has all changed, I too bought about three pairs ages ago and they're almost threadbare- I went in to try some more and and they are dreadful, the nest time I find a pair I love I will buy 5 pairs!

I am more your apple shape so I'm very of you lot with your teeny waists. I have slimmer hips and thighs but struggle to find jeans that fit on the waist,don't bag on the hips/thighs and that aren't too low.

I always feel like it's just meet forever hoiking my jeans up- even with a belt!

Thanks for the replies, I'm glad it's not just me who has this problem.
Alas I am too old to set foot in New Look. Low rise trousers are part of the problem when you have my shape.
GAP is looking favourite and I will look for a French Connection.
Never thought of Boden , but again there's the hassle of sending them back when they don't fit.
If I find any that fit I'll buy them in every colour.

Have you tried mens jeans on? I like Gap mens jeans - they have a higher rise than womens.

TraceyK , yes I've only got mens jeans at the moment. I find a regular fit 32" are okay and they are higher rise than womens but I still have to sew darts into the waist. I always feel they look like mens jeans though.
stuffitllllama - I am even older than you . Would I be allowed in New Look?

I would definitely try GAP - they have loads of different shapes and fits. But do agree with Fruit that 7 for all Mankind do a fantastic fit, if you can stretch your budget. I think if you wear them every day (like I do-v boring!) the cost per wear is definitely worth it!

What sizes do 7 for all mankind go up to? Anyone sell them in and around Covent garden - I'm off for a weekend there next weekend and could try them on.

OP - for a moment I thought I'd started this thread without realising it as I was bemoaning this very thing the other day. I am the same height & weight as you with a small waist and big hips and huge thighs. I could not find any jeans to fit me as skinnies were unflattering and I don't really like bootleg unless they're not too flare-y and they're all too tight on the thigh and just look yuck - even wide leg ones

I bought some straight leg & slouch jeans from M&S the other day, but I went up to a 14 so the waist is too big but I think i can live with it. Someone recommended 7 for All Mankind to me but I'm a bit intimidated by those brands. I'm not overweight or anything, in fact I have a good, curvy figure, but my legs are a nightmare (get my boots from Duo).

Had same old problem here but I am a shorty! used to get Next ones but they stoped doing them!

Tried everywhere and ended up with some from Very.co.uk (used to be Littlewoods Direct) and they ere £19 - they fit really well and I have a big bum and thunder thighs! I am getting another pair as they fit so well! Worth a try...
