Comfy yet stylish shoes for walking lots on holiday?

I am going to Australia in Jan for 2 weeks and need some shoes that I can wear with shorts or skirts and that I can walk for several miles in each day without tearing my feet to shreds!

Any ideas? My budget is not huge but could afford £30 if they stop me getting blisters

No?

Are Birkenstocks good walking shoes or do they rub?

it depends what you are walking on

footpaths/proper roads ok for Birkies

but if you are going into the bush at all they would be unsuitable (spiky things will stick into your feet), oh, and insects

trainers would be ok wouldn't they if you don't want proper walking shoes

Well I'm no style gru but for comfort I opts for these - or a cheaper version

Agree with SF that trainers might be best, especially if rough terrain?

ScaryFucker · 12/10/2009 20:03

oh, and don't worry about being stylish

have you been to Australia before ?

cookielove · 12/10/2009 20:09

these

more trainerery

breezy

Well I don't know about how stylish folk would consider them but I got some Clarks shoes that were kind of half trainery half shoey. You know the kind! But that was in summer so they prob don't do them now.

That's helpful isn't it?

I walk a lot wearing very unsexy Clarks all terrain sandals - similar things available from Millets! Too embarrassed to post a pic of my feet but they are so comfortable and I've never had blisters from them, unlike trainers.
