Anyone know what happened to Footling the shoe people?

They used to have this brilliant system whereby you could ring them up, tell them your kids' approx. size and the style of shoe you wanted and they would come to your home with a whole load and fit them there and then. We spent about £100 every time they came.

They were fantastic but seem to have disappeared - does anyone know what happened to them?

Never heard of them but they sound fab - will watch this thread with interest as I have 2 dds with v. narrow feet.

They had a big following: See recommendation in this thread.

It was a great business concept - I really wanted to hand over your money to them because I was so grateful that they brought a stack of shoes to our door in all the right sizes which they never have in any of the shoe shops for my DKs' super-wide feet. There was no compulsion to buy, but we always got something good.

Where are you based? There is a new company doing exactly what you are talking about in Hertfordshire. They are called The Upper Foot, and have a range of school shoes, trainers and Wellies etc in lots of different styles. They do have a website, which is www.theupperfoot.co.uk Worth a try.

We used them several times, and they were absolutely brilliant - great service and real choice in the correct sizes in the comfort of your own home. I recommended them to so many people but unfortunately I believe that they have closed down due to the recession.
