I'm having a meal in the evening at a restaurant with my closest friends and we''re all dressing up.

I'd love something in red as I always wear black. I'm 5'3.5"
and size 12 with large boobs, so empire line is usually good on me.

Can anyone help? I love Holly Willoughby style ish things

What is your budget?

andlipsticktoo · 04/10/2009 20:03

Well up to £130 I reckon = maybe slightly more if it's really irresistable!

Tillyscoutsmum · 04/10/2009 20:18

this is nice

red

not red but empire

andlipsticktoo · 04/10/2009 20:32

The monsoon one is lovely - I love a V neck. Not sure if it's quite special enough though (without wishing to sound too fussy!)

I quite like this

and also this although quite short but I am short so it would be longer on me....

Any others? I've got about 3 weeks ti find one.

I like the 1st ted Baker one and the orange Monsoon one. i really don't like the red Ted B one.

too pink?
this

andlipsticktoo · 05/10/2009 12:09

brokenspacebar I love the first one, and thanks for introducing me to two new clothing sites!

Clure I love the first two - the over budget ones of course! But hey I can wear it for my birthday, new years eve and I have a wedding to go to in January, so it would be money well invested

I cant wear thin strappy dresses or halter neck as boobs too big and require much scaffolding! Thanks for searching for me though guys. I think I have 3 front runners now:
Ted Baker dress
Lk Bennet dress
Coast dress.

Got to choose between them and choose accessories etc!

LKB gets my vote too - utterly gorgeous.

andlipsticktoo · 05/10/2009 16:54

Is it gorgeous? I'm now having second thoughts about the LK Bennet one - is it a tad 'middle-aged'? I mean especially on a 40 yr old. I'd like to look like I'm actually having my 30th iykwim.

I would say sophisticated rather than old, but I know what you mean.

Okay, what about this Isabella Oliver zip dress? It's red, but far more funky than the LKB one.

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 05/10/2009 17:11

It is NOT maternity!

brokenspacebar · 05/10/2009 19:21

Ikwym Florence, I would steer clear of the lk bennet one (and even the ones I linked to might be slightly ageing, ditto coast).

Tbh, it might be worth avoiding looking for one colour in particular, and just having a wee browse of different styles of dresses. You are slightly taller than me, but I do find my height and norks make choosing a dress slightly trickier - lots of dresses are too long.

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 05/10/2009 19:27

It's tragic and so true. Today, I emailed an online store to check the skirt length on a gorgeous 'mid-calf' dress and it turned out to be ankle length on me!!

brokenspacebar · 05/10/2009 19:34

this?

Might be worth looking for dresses that can be taken up, or are supposed to be above the knee?

brokenspacebar · 05/10/2009 19:59

funkier? but black and not right for a wedding.

brokenspacebar · 05/10/2009 20:01

red

brokenspacebar · 05/10/2009 20:05

Take a look at Karen Millen and warehouse websites. Some very nice dresses there.

notyummy · 05/10/2009 22:00

LOVING the Ted Baker and Twist links - order both and send one back!

andlipsticktoo · 06/10/2009 13:11

Yes I love the twist one too, and both the french connection dresses! Lordy I need lots of money - I want them all!

Yep I think you're right about not limiting myself to one colour, I just had an idea in my head, but you are right for a short, large-bosoomed lady like me I need to keep searching.

I know the Ted Baker one would look good on me, it's exactly the right shape for me, I just don't know if it's bling enough for an evening do??

OP posts:
andlipsticktoo · 06/10/2009 13:24

Ooh I quite like this too!

But still hankering after the Ted Baker one most I think.

You know you want to....
