sequinedsteaknife · 03/10/2009 15:22

I have a job interview this week. It is for a marketing position in a theatre.

CAn't decide between formal or going a bit more creativey.

Take a look at my profile and tell me what you think.

Sleeveless blue dress with knit cardi
BRown wool knit dress with or without cardi
Black suit

thank you

Again I am hoping that is my terrible self portrait VG.
The skirt sits on the knee - it is this pattern

Do you have a jacket to wear with the blue dress? Agree with Janeite that it looks fab with the belt but you will need a little swing jacket or cardi to go with for an interview.

sequinedsteaknife · 03/10/2009 19:20

I promise I look less severe in real life - sometimes I even crack a

The only other jacket like thing I have for the blue dress is an orange suede jacket - lovely but it is a shirt style so not smart enough really.

Or a purple coat or a red trenchcoat.

Crikey the state of my wardrobe is shocking. I got rid of so much when I went overseas that I just kept the things I loved, which doesn't make for very cohesive choices.

Tulpe - we have already discounted a burnt orange cropped cardi.

I'll be going nekkid at this rate.

Anything like a fine cream wool long-sleever to go under it then?

tulpe · 03/10/2009 19:25

Show us the purple and red trenchcoat options! Depending on shade, they could work - at least to walk in to interview with before removing casually to show off lovely dress

janeite · 03/10/2009 19:26

Have you tried blue dress, brown belt, orange cardi? Have forgotten what the cardi looked like!

VintageGardenia · 03/10/2009 19:29

Blue dress purple tights purple heels purple coat brown belt and a holiday for 2 in Mallorca?

miamla · 03/10/2009 19:31

ditto to what vintage just said!

tulpe · 03/10/2009 19:31

is your DH relieved you are seeking advice elsewhere? Am LOL at Vintage Gardenia as her comment is just the kind of thing DH would say if I was driving him bonkers about what to wear

sequinedsteaknife · 03/10/2009 19:55

The only thing exDH would have a view on is that the orange cardi looks like someones granny knitted it in the 70s.

Right sooooooooooooooooo

There is now on the profile.....

Blue dress, brown belt, orange cardi

Blue dress with red flashermac trenchcoat
Blue dress with purple coat

And a final one for a laugh if my mums 1960s crotched turquoise suit.

I am not dressing up any more I am going to drink some wine.

OP posts:
janeite · 03/10/2009 19:56

I like your flasher mac! Where from?

sequinedsteaknife · 03/10/2009 19:58

Thanks, I made it after seeing one in red in Monsoon a few years ago. It isn't waterproof or anything but I love it.

OP posts:
tulpe · 03/10/2009 19:59

Okay. I actually like the crocheted suit but not for an autumn interview. Bring it out again in the spring, have the skirt taken up to knee length and team with a white cami or shell top.

I think the purple coat looks fine over the dress.

Definitely not the orange cardi nor the red flasher mac

janeite · 03/10/2009 20:00

You made it? You are a genius!

janeite · 03/10/2009 20:01

Deffo not the orange cardi. Are the boots purple? Purple coat and boots, blue dress, belt = good.

sequinedsteaknife · 03/10/2009 20:04

Well you see needs must with the sewing to get things to fit that I like and that I can afford. I think the coat cost me about ten pounds in fabric and ten for the pattern - the one in monsoon would have been closer to 100.

I agree not the cardi.
flasher mac looks good with the suit though.

So I think we have it narrowed down to the blue dress with the brown belt. I can do purple tights with black boots and the purple coat and amathyst jewellery. (which you will just have to imagine)

sequinedsteaknife · 03/10/2009 20:52

Got to wear the specs can't really see too much without them. I know they need straightening up.

Tis a large regional theatre.
