Fab dark navy trousers, what colour shoes to wear?!?!

Have acquired some really fab smart navy trousers, they have a slight sheen to them. I am normally useless with smart stuff but surprised myself with these - they are nicer than they sound!!

Anyway, I am not sure I have ever actually owned a pair of trousers this colour before, so my dilemma now, is what colour shoes does one wear??

Help needed please - I am not a bright colours person, so don't have anything vibrant in the shoe department at all and would be reluctant to purchase just to go with these trousers and would be nervous to wear.... Black just doesn't seem right - do I go light eg. fawn/tan??

I wear them all the time with my jeans, and somehow it makes me smile, just the very cheekiness of them in the greyness of Winter.

I know you said you dont wear bright colours, nor do I, but shoes is very different.

Red lovely but you have to be careful of looking nautical with the rest of your outfit....

But if you shy away from colour, then chocolate and navy is one of my favourite 'smart' colour combos

I think its more Parisienne than sailor if youre careful!

Black, navy or brown.

navy, darker brown, or red, not black.
