replica (ie fake) designer handbags?????

OK!! I am slightly embarassed to be asking this....and its probably a long shot.... but a few months ago I bought a replica Chloe Paddington handbag online from a shop called Beubag, which specialises in all sorts of copy handbags.

they are literally exactly the same as the originals - my "chloe" bag is beautiful, soft leather, rally great quality etc, i have seen real ones and i honestly cannot tell the difference. and the service from the website was top class, they delivered it within the timescales they promised and i was 110% happy with the bag.

ANYWAY - now I've got the bug n i really want a replica Balenciaga Le Dix Motorcycle bag but beubag don't do them

I have scoured the internet and found a few sites that offer them but I am not sure whether to trust them or not because they are ALL based overseas and I don't want to lose my money or end up with a piece of rubbish.

so has anyone else bought a replica bag before, if anyone wants to admit it, haha!!!and if so, can anyone recommend a good website / online shop that i might be able to check out?? or even better, have bought one and can recommend where to go!

Most of the ones on ebay are replica and the key is to look for 'chloe paddington style'

or 'authentic leather paddington'

I am hoping you are aware that most copy bags are made in sweat shops and a lot of them are run by big gangs that also deal in drug and people trafficking.

Perhaps you could consider buying a copy of the style but not one that actually pretends to be the designer.

MadreInglese · 28/09/2009 13:47

what Laurie said

CHOOGIRL · 28/09/2009 13:56

I haven't bought fake, but do buy bags, and trust me you can always tell the difference - quality of stitching, materials, etc. Agree with LFC re child exploitation issues so can't help with 'fake' retailers. I would suggest something like this where you rent a genuine bag for a fraction of the cost.

pagwatch · 28/09/2009 14:06

pagwatch in 'didn't answer exactly as OP wanted' shocker.

I just never understand why anyone wouldn't buy a really good quality bag from somewhere like LK Benett or Russell and Bromley who do styles similar to the hyper expensive ones rather than a knock off.

You get a really nice bag without lying about it.
Thats all

"I am hoping you are aware that most copy bags are made in sweat shops and a lot of them are run by big gangs that also deal in drug and people trafficking."

anyone???

(or was it just an uninformed comment to make me feel shit about buying one??)

CuntFuckerSmith · 29/09/2009 12:35

I had one years ago. Was given to me by a friend. It looked SHIT! It went in the bin pretty quickly...

Nezzi · 29/09/2009 12:36

I didn't know either if that makes you feel any better.
I certainly wouldn't buy one now, not knowing the above. I'm a bit embarrassed that it had never occured to me before

LaurieFairyCake · 29/09/2009 13:06

info on counterfeiting here

and there was a TV programme last year about drugs/people trafficking profits from fake bags - off to look for it.

LaurieFairyCake · 29/09/2009 13:12

article about the Ch4 documentary shown last year called the Fake Trade

HelenMc1 · 29/09/2009 15:38

Can only echo LaurieFairyCake above about the proceeds of fake bags.

All I can say is if you want a designer bag buy from a reputable second hand shop like www.archlabelagency.com - you get the real thing and the quality with out the guilt (both ethical and financial!)

mummee09v · 29/09/2009 18:18

well that has really shocked me, i will definitely think twice about buying another one now :-/

thanks for the link to the 2nd hand site, had a look, pretty good isn't it. sadly they don't have any balenciaga tho!! will keep checking back to it i think as it sounds like they have new stuff coming in all the time.

xx
