How does layering work then?

People seem to mention it a lot. I'm clueless. What does it mean?

And how do you avoid the michelin man effect? I just look bulky!

White Stuff use the concept of Layering as a marketing ploy to get you to buy more stuff. For example, all of their clothes look crap unless you buy a £20 vest top to go underneath, and a £40 cardi to go over the top.
