My handbag's been stolen, help me find a new one please!

We were broken into last night whilst we were upstairs asleep and amongst some other stuff, my handbag was stolen. Police have just left. So I'm trying to cheer myself up by looking for a new one. But I hardly ever see bags I like. The bag that was stolen was an Orla Kiely one, leather, shoulder strap, in red with tan trim - plain rather than patterned. And I loved it .

So - ideal replacement would be mid sized, leather, able to put over my shoulder without being immediately below my armpit, involve colour but probably not pattern, and I like a semi structured shape - nothing too boxy but nothing saggy either. Budget - up to £250 ideally, but if I get desperate, I might just throw money at it...

Three I have found so far are here but none are perfect:

Nice shape and colour

quite like the shape, colour not so much

lovely colour and shape, handles a bit short?

Any suggestions?

go with what you know and love?

ApuskiDusky · 16/09/2009 14:14

OMG Nellie you found it!!!

And it doesn't have ink all over the inside cover link mine did!

No buy it now price, but am now watching...

I will keep looking to see if there is something else I love as a change, but it is very tempting!

You could email the seller offering a buy it now price and asking them to end the auction?

I've done it a few times for things I've really wanted and it's worked!

The Orla Kiely bag is much nicer than any of the other ones linked to which imo are frankly quite grannyish!

HelenMc1 · 16/09/2009 14:49

The straps are probably far too short but I think this is in the same style as the Orla Kiely

Right, have emailed the seller, I'll have to see what she says (here's hoping she isn't on MN and doesn't see how much I was prepared to pay for a new one!).

Sorry about the burglary, OP.

I love your bag. I have an O.K. one and love it.

ApuskiDusky · 16/09/2009 18:13

Hmm, had a response - £200 to make it buy it now, I think I'll have to just bid. If there are any other suggestions, keep them coming!

Right, now I have to buy a new phone - maybe I need to post on geeks corner...

Thanks all!

Oops, Helen, didn't mean to ignore your suggestion - I like, but agree that straps will probably be too short. I'm just not a 'bag perched at my elbow' kind of girl...

A final good news story to this - the police have just called and they have found my bag! I'm not sure what state it's in, and they still need to fingerprint it, but with any luck, I won't need to buy a new one!
